After a long day exploring Boston and running errands, we stopped into Bottega — a local institution my husband and his brother used to frequent when they were in med school nearby. The restaurant is run by two brothers who embody true Italian charm and hospitality, and you can immediately feel the warmth and authenticity the moment you walk in.
The food was absolutely delicious and came out quickly. We ordered the tortellini carbonara, penne alla vodka, arrabbiata, and a side of meatballs — everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are generous.
The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with both indoor and outdoor seating available, plus easy takeout options. It’s the kind of spot that makes you feel at home — simple, genuine, and full of heart. Highly recommend Bottega for anyone craving authentic, easy, and tasty Italian food in Brookline.

Terrible roast bief with caramelized onion. The onion was basically sugar, it was hard, the whole (16 dollar) panini tasted like sugar. They don’t know how to make caramelized onion, which I love. I wouldn’t recommended that panini.

Honestly it’s pretty good! Kinda like home style pasta. It’s comfy food and definitely worth to have it if you are around!

The food was really really good! FRESH made from scratch… the only thing i complaining about is my seafood pasta was missing clams and parsley for a pretty garnish look, and the waitress was ok but not great… I still gave her a 20$ dollar tip because I always tip, besides that a hole in the wall! Great great food. A little small tight place to sit and eat but I recommend and call ahead if u want to dine in.

Came in the city for business, a friend treated me out to this spot. Quaint and intimate, the comedy and engagement of the owners makes for a kind and cheerful experience. They checked in on us to make sure us and the customers were having a good time plus cracked the best jokes. The Pasta Alla Peche was divine. I hsve frequented Italian restaurants my whole life but this hit my taste buds in a different way. The crabmeat with the shrimp and slight spiciness to the sauce set it off with a homemade twang. Would definitely come here again!

Good Italian restaurant, food was delicious, prices were fair and nice server. It’s a cozy place but not spacious and if you’re more than 4, don’t expect enough spaces! We ordered Catalina shrimp pasta, pesto Alfredo, and chicken Parmesan sub.

I came here with family on a Thursday evening — we were able to get a reservation for 7 people day of. The restaurant has limited seating and was completely filled when we were there. It has a very cozy homey atmosphere, and there were a number of people coming in to get takeout.
I got to try a variety of dishes, and overall I would say that their shrimp is really good — plump and tender — and their flavors are generally good. I thought most of the pasta was a bit overcooked for my tastes, but it didn’t detract too much from the experience. If I came back, I would definitely get something with shrimp.
My favorite sauce that I tried was the white wine garlic butter with a touch of tomato sauce (found in the Linguini Scallops, Clams, Shrimps). If I could get that sauce with just shrimp, that would be great. They also have a build your own pasta option, so maybe I’d try a pesto shrimp combo next time.
For appetizers, I thought the Prosciutto di Parma ($16.00) antipasti was quite good — good balance of flavors and textures. The fried calamari ($12.00) did not look very glamorous (looked store-bought), but tasted fine. I didn’t like the grilled pear salad ($13.50) — it didn’t taste grilled at all, and the flavors didn’t work well together for me.
The risotto frutti di mare ($19.00) had good flavor but the rice texture wasn’t that great (a bit mushy). The tiramisu was pretty good, but not my favorite.
Overall I would recommend the prosciutto di parma, anything with shrimp, and anything with white wine garlic butter sauce.

Nice atmosphere. Reminded me of how my Italian family members decorate funny enough. I have a dairy allergy so the waiter recommended a dish for me. Was pretty good. Nice sauce. Not sweet. Not too acidic. The chicken was juicy. The service could’ve been a bit better though. Very small.

Came back to Boston after fifteen years away, and this shrimp scampi was at the top of my list. I’m so glad I was able to find the place.
