Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant is a true gem for anyone seeking authentic Ethiopian cuisine and rich highland organic coffee. The flavors are vibrant, the dishes are beautifully presented, and every bite feels like a journey to Ethiopia.
Bekele and Selam are exceptional hosts—gracious, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Whether you’re planning a special event or just stopping by for a meal, their charm and hospitality elevate the entire experience. Their service, paired with the outstanding quality of food and drinks, makes every visit memorable.
Having traveled extensively across the U.S., I can confidently say this is one of the neatest and most thoughtfully run Ethiopian restaurants I’ve encountered. The prices are fair, and there’s ample parking, making it convenient and accessible.
Highly recommended for anyone craving delicious food, warm service, and a cozy atmosphere that feels like home.

This restaurant is a true hidden gem! Don’t be nervous about the unfamiliarity of some of the dishes – they will provide you with a delicious and perfectly seasoned adventure in addition to a full stomach. I love that they also sell wine and beer (and maybe other liquor?) as these are perfect accompaniments to the great food. The staff is lovely and if there are language barriers, it’s all part of the adventure with the warm and friendly staff.

We first visited Ethiopia 9 years ago, and fell in love with the food and coffee of the country.

Coffee was excellent. Hot and strong. I did miss the popcorn to go along with the coffee, though.

We ordered the veggie combo for 2, as well as beef tibs. Both dishes were excellent. My wife has sufficient veggies for at least 1 more meal, maybe 2. Likely the best Ethiopian meals we’ve had here in the Twin Cities.

We returned, ordered the same meals. We were very happy that the restaurant was very busy tonight. Service was still great, and we again have plenty of leftovers.

Our first time being here it was excellent, the only hiccup was that the waitress didn’t understand English and we didn’t speak Ethiopian. Other than that the food was full of flavor. Great atmosphere.

Food was fantastic! It was a cute atmosphere in there, and I’d love to go back. The Doro Wot was warm, salty, and spicy; perfect with their Injera, which they sell! For about $20, I was full for the entire day.

I stopped in because I got a reccomendation. The people were amazingly hospitable, they shared some spicy cake, honey wine, and ethopian coffee from the coffee service they were doing. I chatted with 3 people while I waited for the food.

I got the veggie sampler platter for 2 and everything is delicious! Enough food for 3-4 people. I will definitely be returning AND reccomending it to everyone.

This was our first dine in experience after we had tried some of their sambusas during the North St. Paul car show. Our meals were fantastic and wonderfully flavored. If you’re looking for good food and good flavor, you won’t be disappointed!
