Thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Otis during a cold weekend celebrating two family birthdays. Four of us sat at the bar counter, which ended up being perfect for conversation. From what I understand, they do two seatings (5/5:30 and 7/7:30), with a 5-course prix fixe menu and two options per course. Everything came out together and the food was fantastic.
Service was great, and we all left perfectly satisfied. Not overly full, not wanting more (though probably could’ve kept eating because it was so good). Really impressive food and great people. Very reasonably priced for the quality and level of service. Highly recommend for a nice dining experience, hope to go back soon to try other options.
If I had to pick favorites (not counting the amazing dessert): the pork duo (I seriously want to try and recreate that at home) and the basil pasta, maybe tied with the soup. I also tried a bite of the salmon dish, which was excellent. Hard to give exact details as they change their menu weekly and I don’t have a picture of it from when we were there unfortunately.

Fantastic 5 course dinner that was well paced and not rushed, taking time to let us enjoy each course slowly and completely. The pacing was on point. We finished at just over 2 hours. The food was very, very good, and I’m a fairly frequent Michelin diner who seeks out 1, 2, and 3 star restaurants all over the world. Ingredients were fresh and thoughtfully used to enhance, compliment, and elevate the vision for the dish. Everything was great. It was a culinary experience, and very reasonably priced compared to other places that to prix fixe seating services. I would absolutely recommend this place and will do so. The chef spent time towards the end to speak with patrons which is always nice to show they care about the experience and want to hear from us. Apparently he was a contestant on Yes Chef! The cooking competition which shows that he’s clearly skilled. That was evident by the technical prowess, thoughtful presentation and plating, and the quality of each dish. Very well done, chef. These types of places are not just a place to get some food, it’s a place to have an experience and a journey, curated and created by the chef, and he excelled. The space itself is small, cozy, warm, and intimate. That made it feel more personal and more connected to the cooking. At one end of the room there is a counter for 4 that allows diners to sit at the chefs counter, feet away from where the cooking happens which would have been a fantastic experience but I booked it too late to get those seats. I went with my wife, and my mother and brother who share a birthday, and they both loved it. All around, very, very good. I only docked a star for atmosphere because given the small space, there are very limited options for the best seats. Nonetheless, our regular bar seats worked since we got a corner and could make conversation with all members with eye contact target than being separated had we been seated in a row. Bottom line- this was some of the best for abs dining experience I have had in the whole of the North East / New England. Hats off to the chef, he is very skilled, very technical, and clearly knows how to construct dishes to make each flavor and texture truly shine. You will find yourself chewing slow to really experience how the various components come together to create something magical and memorable. Great job, chef!

May 2025: Another fantastic meal: veggie soup, topasta with kale, salmon, pork, sticky toffee pudding.
March 2024:We had a fantastic dinner. An extra bonus was watching the chefs cook, they were like an orchestra so coordinated. The sitting had 26 diners. The menu changes every week. We had bean soup, a choice of smoked salmon salad w potato or polenta with pork ragu, chicken with spinach or cod with carrots, beef with potato and red cabbage or pork and lentils, toffee pudding or funnel cake ( fried dough). Everything was delicious, there was not a single dish that we did not love. Service was attentive and friendly. We will be back!

We drove almost 2 hours to eat here, and unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. The menu said one course was duck with cherries, which we were excited about, but then the waitress said it was a misprint and it was chicken and cherries. She said the misprint was the chefs fault and he’d left on vacation. Odd, but ok. The first course was soup and salad, both painfully bland and unseasoned, both could have used salt and acid. I suggested we ask for salt but my partner wanted to wait in the hopes things improved. The second course was gnocchi and a carrot dish. Again, unseasoned and bland, and we were regretting the drive. I asked for table salt, which made the third course better. The fourth course, both the pork and beef, were wonderful. Salt, acid, well balanced and delicious. We wished it hadn’t taken three courses to find the flavor. The desserts were good. When someone asked at the end if we enjoyed our food, I mentioned our concerns. The woman said she was surprised because she usually finds the food there too salty. Odd again- the waitress blamed the absent chef for incorrect menus and the hostess disparaged the food that usually comes out of the kitchen. We came a long way, expecting a James Beard worthy dinner, and instead paid $200 for a forgettable meal.

May 2025: Still terrific. Had a vegetable soup, a fish course, a chicken course, a beef course and a sticky toffee dessert. The flavors are very delicate, everything was perfect

Mar 2024: Absolutely fantastic. It’s a five course menu with two choices per course. I had the white bean soup, the polenta with regular, chicken, beef and the sticky toffee pudding. Loved everything.

Had the pleasure of eating at the Chef’s Table last night with friends. It was a great time watching the food prep, chatting with the chefs and enjoying fabulous food. Each course carefully constructed and thoughtfully prepared. We tried everything on the menu and the fish dishes and the chicken were the highlight, and nothing was a disappointment. Come hungry as you get a lot of food which makes the price point impressive.
Worth a visit!

Dined at Otis. In Exeter for the first time. Shared the tasting menu with 2 selections per course with my husband so we got to try one of everything (menu in photos). Everything was fresh, seasonal, local and delicious. Sat at the chef’s table so we got to see each dish as it was prepared. The food was innovative and delicious. The service was impeccable. Definitely must try if you are in the area.

What a magnificent evening we had at Otis Restaurant. With a delicious 5-course tasting menu, each dish was a masterpiece. All the dishes were amazing but words cannot describe the impeccably cooked salmon.
The entire evening was an extraordinary celebration of locally sourced ingredients, expertly crafted flavors, and impeccable presentation. Every course was a testament to the culinary artistry of the talented chefs at Otis.

A hidden gem of Exeter! Never thought I’d find a tasting menu here and yet, Otis blew me away. The tasting menu changes weekly, and you get two options for each of the five courses. Each course was incredibly plated and beyond delicious! I tried things I wasn’t sure I’d like, but ended up loving them. My favorites were the trout on pumpernickel and the sweet potato pasta. The steak was also incredible, cooked to perfection and oh so juicy. It was a blast sitting up at the bar, seeing things being prepared in front of you. The pacing of the courses was perfect, we had enough time to savor each one and chat between them for a nice long date night. I loved the entire experience, and the price was so worth it. I can’t wait to come back to something totally new!

An delicious and amazing meal! We sat at the chef’s table and ordered the tasting menu. I feel that the pictures speak for you themselves; parsnip soup, beet and feta salad, seared scallops, and more!
Excellent service. I can highly recommend Otis.
