Minden is definitely lacking in good places to eat. This place stands out as a jewel to get great country food.
My wife ordered the baked chicken and I went for the smothered pork chop with greens and dressing. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
We will definitely be back to get more of this great food!

Very delicious food and excellent customer service. I am working in Minden for two weeks, and wanted home cooked Soul Food. We tried three places, and Jean’s Diner is the BEST! We have been eating at Jean’s every day, and I highly recommend it!!! The food taste just like my Grandma use to make! Ms Jean is the sweetest lady and she makes sure you are a happy customer. The best Chicken and Dumplings, Turnip Greens, Fried and Smothered Pork Chops, Fried Chicken, Candied Yams, Catfish Filets, Potato Salad, Cabbage, Field Peas, Peach Cobbler, etc. and the Sweet Tea is perfect! Eating at Jeans’s everyday has been the most enjoyable part of my stay here in Minden, LA. Definitely check it out if you are in this area. Highly recommended!!!!

My husband and I after church in Ruston, LA didn’t want to go to the same old spots to eat. We live in Homer so I googled soul food restaurants near us in Minden, LA and this wonderful place came up, Jean’s Diner…..ya’ll we found a gold mine. They have the best Down Home Country Style Food. Let me tell you everything tasted like Grandma’s cooking, seasoned to perfection. With every bite my husband and I was in ahhh. Service and atmosphere was great. Did I say the food taste great. Two thumbs up…four with my husbands. We have decided to make this place our go to for Down Home Country Soul Food…….period.

This is a hidden jewel. Some of the best country home cooking you can find. And the service….they were very friendly and right there if you needed anything. I highly recommend this restaurant. If I’m ever back in Minden, I will make sure to back.

Was there 1/21/23 at 12:30 2 couples came in after us 2 takes happen while we were waiting then the owner took the first couple order that came in and then went to 2 couple to take there’s so we got up to leave and as we were leaving he stated I’ll be with you next however I said we were here before both of them and waited through you serving the takeouts then he said I’m sorry but continued to take there order. This type of service we receive from them we do not expect it from our own and that is not how you do business sorry but want be eating there anytime soon.

Just wish they’d update their menu/ hours etc online. Also would like for there to be a set menu lunch special for each
day that coordinates with the menu sheet that they pass out. It’s frustrating to have to call everyday to find out what’s really on the menu for the day and be ready for a certain dish then to be dissapointed that they don’t have it that day. As far as the food it’s really delicious!! ☺️ Great home style cooking!!! Glad to have found these home cooked meals! If you haven’t tried them you don’t know what you’re missing! It’s a Big secret…..delicious home cooking and soul food restaurant hidden here in Minden!!! Thankful someone told ME about it!! I hope y’all stay in business for many years to come!!! Thank you!!❤️

Small FAMILY ❤️ business. My husband and I stopped in for a bite to eat while passing through on our way home from FL to TX. Mrs Jean and her family greeted, welcomed and thanked us for stopping in…we chatted, hugged, cried over loved ones that we’d each had recently lost. Lunch arrived…Chicken fried steak for me and catfish for my husband – your first bite tells you this was made with love and care. Every bite was delicious right down to the hot water cornbread and slice of pound cake. If ever in the area again, we will definitely make a stop in Minden for a delicious meal and a hug. Great people and true southern hospitality.

Not a big fan of the cornbread but everything else was amazing. the cabbage and mashed potatoes were especially good. 5 star at first bite!
