Reviews
The restaurant is massive and really spacious, which is a huge plus in a crowded area like New Market. It’s also super clean and hygienic. The staff are professional and quick—service is definitely one of their strong suits right now. It is a very comfortable place to bring the family for a meal.
But here’s the sad part: the food just isn’t hitting the mark like it used to. Recently, I’ve felt the quality and quantity are sliding. The biggest letdown is the Biryani. For the price they’re charging, the amount of rice you get is surprisingly less compared to other famous spots in the city. It feels like they’re skimming on the very thing that made them famous.
It’s still a good spot if you prioritize a clean, comfortable environment over massive portions. But if you’re looking for that old-school, generous Kolkata Biryani feast, you might leave feeling a bit shortchanged. Worth a visit for the comfort, but I hope they fix the portion sizes soon.
Aminia in Kolkata gets a 3-star rating from me. While it’s a well-known name and the ambiance is comfortable, the overall experience didn’t match the hype. The biggest drawback is the pricing— the food feels quite expensive for the quantity they serve. The portions are noticeably smaller compared to other popular Mughlai restaurants in the city. The taste is also just average; there’s nothing particularly unique or standout about the dishes. The biryani and curries were decent, but not memorable enough to justify the cost. Service is okay, but the value for money is definitely lacking. Aminia is fine for a one-time visit, but if you’re expecting exceptional flavour or generous portions, you may end up a bit disappointed.
Other than that, it was a lovely experience overall and still a place worth going back to for its flavors and memories.
The mutton and chicken preparations are absolutely delicious — full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and true to traditional Kolkata Mughlai style. Every dish reflects the restaurant’s long-standing culinary excellence.
If you’re visiting Kolkata and wish to experience authentic Mughlai cuisine, Aminia is a must-visit destination. The food, ambiance, and heritage all combine to offer a memorable dining experience.
Stepping back into Aminia after loving their other place was the best decision. The kabobs were absolutely outstanding. This fantastic food, combined with the good quality overall, makes Aminia an excellent choice, though the service could be a little better.
Service is disgusting. in non ac area 20-30 min no one come to take the order. After saying this happen the upper-post’s person also say that go to the AC area then fast order is taken.
Previously plated biriyani which is almost cool that is served.
Served “clean” water glass is not clean properly, saying this thing to service person they totally ignore it.
At last its very disappointing experience…but its not conceivable.
Located at S N Banerjee Road, just opposite to New Market and Kolkata Municipal Corporation building. Very convenient to reach this place.
An iconic restaurant for Mughlai foods in Kolkata indeed!
They are operating in the same old building but maintained properly.
Food items are not cheap but as per their brand value.
One thing you to note that, they accept cash and cards, not UPI payment.
One more thing for your knowledge, the waiter may ask for tips. Don’t be surprised!
You may try this eatery when visiting Esplanade/New Market area in Kolkata.
