The vibe of this place was great!! Excellent service, super fresh food, and a great breakfast and lunch selection. The avocado toast with the pesto and fresh tomato was so yummy and such a fun variation. Went there to try the corned beef hash Benedict and it was hands down the best in the Rhode Island area. Actually used real corned beef, the potatoes were seasoned perfectly and the benne sauce was perfect. Super happy and will definitely go back.

I heard that Karie called her kitchen a different name a while back, but I understand that the only thing that changed may have been the name. When I went there for the first time, I was happy that they kept the baked goods, the menu items, the coffee options, and the entrance-in-the-back. This restaurant is not tucked away in some North Kingstown corner, it is located right on Route 1 as you drive along the most scenic part. I think you should check it out!

Karie’s Kitchen shares space with a local hotel that was recently changing ownership and has a lot more invested into the rooms. It is also a breakfast place that is open fairly early. Because of this, you might see tourists or blue collar workers getting their morning cuppa before the day starts. You’ll also see people enjoying their food in an almost private setting because of the fact that the restaurant is on the back side of the building.

If you are going to get inside seated service, it makes sense to wait at the host station, if you’re ordering to-go or pickup, go on inside until you see a proper coffee shop. The number of gluten-free options, including the breakfast sandwiches, means I have to become a local customer, that’s the only way I will be able to enjoy every item.

The breakfast sandwiches that Karie’s makes should be in a modern version of a Cinderella movie, they are beautiful, and should be cast as the morning sandwich that Prince Charming or Cinderella eats before they take on the day. They get a lot of their gluten-free baked goods from AJ’s Bakery, a local GF baked goods company, and Kerry’s is the only place I know of where you can get GF cinnamon buns. (Start drooling response, FLAVOR).

Anyways, when you’re in RI, and you’re touring our famous Route 1, definitely check out Kerry’s Kitchen on a morning, and say hi to the morning dew on the grass. It is a pleasant experience and a definite enjoyment!

Nice variety of breakfast and lunch foods. I have been there for breakfast several times. Today I had a special stuffed French toast, a red raspberry and white chocolate delight with lots of whipped cream on top. They even agreed to me preference of using sourdough bread! It was delicious. My son had the apple cinnamon stuffed French toast which he enjoyed. My husband enjoyed a jam and cheese omelet with a blueberry pancake on the date. Nicely done!

We were out again for a random weekend drive, this time down to Newport and back. As has recently become our habit, we stopped for lunch on the way home.

Coming up route 1A through North Kingstown, we saw a big sign saying nothing but “Restaurant” so I hit the brakes. What we found was Karie’s Kitchen (formerly Jiggers South).

This quaint little farm-to-table eatery is a hidden gem. Emma, our server from Idaho by way of Michigan was pleasant and engaging. She explained the owner Karie’s culinary philosophy of locally sourced Rhode Island ingredients supporting fellow small businesses in the Ocean State.

I had one of the lunch specials: Cup of Chowder with the Fish ‘n Chips plate. This decision was in no small part due to Emma’s description of the lightly fresh Haddock. Dad’s choice was cemented when he learned that breakfast was served all day.

Lunch was delicious. The chowder was creamy with the right mix of clams and potatoes. The haddock was indeed quite lightly breaded allowing the flavor of the fish to come through. If I had to find some criticism I would say the tartar sauce was a bit heavy on the mayo and light on the pickles.

On the way out, we actually found the “Karie’s Kitchen” sign. Karie — You need a better sign! But thanks for the great lunch!

Went on a brunch date here. Everything was delicious and generous portions. We had the banana bread French toast and the BLT Benedict, with a side of home fries recommended by out very helpful waitresses. The whole staff was efficient and welcoming. Would highly recommend this place and will be back again. P.S. bloody Mary’s were a great call

The food was good, some dishes are scrumptious, depends on what you like. I was crazy about one of the dishes they received national recognition for, my friend likes it a lot. Great service. Our waitress was super friendly, easy to talk to. The coffee was just average for me, but it was certainly better than no coffee. Would definitely return. Plus they have lots and lots of mini muffins. Who can resist?
