Reviews
– Mango smoothie ($4.00) – good mango flavour
– Avocado smoothie ($4.00) – creamy
– Pho sa te ($17.50 large) – satay broth was better but light on the peanut flavour
– Pho hai san ($17.50 large) – didn’t detect hot/sour in the broth. Serviceable but unmemorable
– Saigon style platter ($42.95) – four types of meat with grilled asparagus and salad. Betel beef and the grilled galangal pork were delicious. Sausage and lamb skewers were okay
We got the Platter II ($39.95) since we wanted to try a little bit of everything (grilled pork skewer, lemongrass chicken, home made stuff sausage, shrimp skewer, asparagus, and salad and then added a skewer of Betel Beef ($7.95) – although they forgot our order for the betel beef and we had to ask them for it to be made. The platter comes withGarlic Butter Bread Slices as well as 2 drinks 50% off. The food had nice flavour and spice… plenty of food.
⭐Salted Egg Tofu, Bun Bo Hue, Bahn Khot were tasty, and not usually on menus of other Viet places. Overall, flavours were bold, only lacking in herbs and sprouts you’d normally see at other places. Standout was the salted egg tofu: savory, soft, umami! Sadly that means it is not vegetarian.
The banana tapioca dessert was ok but not made the traditional way with the small cooked bananas and pandan. It was just a tapioca coconut base with regukar cavendish bananas cut on top, so lacked depth and texture of traditional Chè Chuối.
⭐Service and environment was pleasant, clean but really dim.
Ordered sizzling beef steak and grilled pork&shrimp, spring roll vermicelli this time. We ordered Saigon style platter the first time. Both times, the experience was top notch.
But let’s talk about the real star here: the fish sauce holder. It looks so sleek, it could be a luxury brand—let’s call it Laine for now. Small details like this make Jokim feel extra special. If you’re on the hunt for some of the best Vietnamese cuisine in the Lower Mainland, this spot is a must-visit.
