Unfortunately, the experience went down hill.
After taking a look at the receipt, my boyfriend noted there was a six dollar price difference between the listed price and the price that was on the receipt for the large oxtail pizza. I brought this to the cashier’s attention and she said that they had upped the prices recently. Which is fine, and understandable in the economy. However, it was not the listed price. So I asked her if they could honor the price that was listed, and she went to ask who I assume was the manager (Shaun?). I explain to him the price difference and that we wanted to have the price listed be honored, he said that they couldn’t do that and that the person who was supposed to fix the price on the screen hasn’t shown up yet. I offered another option and asked him specifically “What other ways can we rectify this then?” he said there was nothing else they could do. I asked one final time. Are you sure? (Because I realllllly wanted to believe that as a business owner they would realize this needs to be rectified and I don’t like to write a review about something if I didn’t even give someone the chance to resolve it)
The answer was still nothing we can do.
Another lady came later to cash register and gave us the time estimate on our order which was much longer than we were quoted on the phone when we called (not tripping too much about time wait bc of a Saturday night), so since it was a change in wait time AND we already had this price difference, I asked again what they could do to even us out. Got her to agree to throw in a chocolate cake. COOL! we’ll call it even
…..Never got the chocolate cake with our order
So yes, it’s a $6 that WE will survive without, but the principal is that it’s illegal to charge a different price than advertised, you’re located in Brightmoor where that $6 could REALLY be a difference for someone’s pockets, apparently this has been going on for a while based on past reviews (which also encouraged me to post), and the pattern and response gives a sense that they are very aware of the problem.
I even called to give suggestions so this doesn’t happen again: have cashiers inform that the listed price isn’t the actual price, and/or put a sign on the cashier window stating the same.
Oh and food was above average! Jerk wings would definitely recommend. But the customer experience overshadowed the food unfortunately.
Hoping for better, and hope the reviews are the push to get there.
So he and I called and ordered barbecue chicken prices of our choice. Chocolate cake and oxtail pizza. We had to repeat the order 5 times for the cashier whom I later found out was co owner, to get it right and understand what we wanted. I said two breast and two thighs. She initially said “we can’t get specific chicken because it’s and upcharge.” We said “we’ll pay for the upcharge.” She said okay, then proceeded to say it’s gonna be about 35-45 mins cause it has to be thawded it’s frozen, (clue #1)! “We said okay it’s gonna take us about 50 mins anyway no problem.”
My day gets there and has to wait an additional 40-45 mins.
Gets home and discovers there’s only 1 breast, 1 thigh and 3 wings. All either overcooked or old as hell. My dad described it as so tough and hard it was almost unbearable to chew . I didn’t hear about it until that night.
I called the next morning told brightmore grill my dad’s experience. The same cashier co owner offered us an apology and $5 back for the upcharge.
There has to be some consistency with the cooking at this place My pizza was mid. Small pieces of oxtails nothing like the pizza on pictures. The Mac n cheese from my previous order was not eaten because it was just not to my liking, if I’m being honest it was disgusting. I thought to myself maybe that’s not their specialty. But looks nothing like the pictures I’ve seen.
Reading these comments seems like this place is going down as far as good service and good cooks.
Although the co owner was apologetic and nice. Offering $5 back for the upcharge on a $60 order that was tipped $10 and he drove and hour and waited an additional 40-45 mins and paid cash. And I would have to go there and pick the $5 up. Is beyond me. She knew we drop far because I told her during the order and during the complaint. We got to do better black business.
I hope this place changes soon. I wish you all more business with a change in the future.
