Fred Harvey revolutionized railroad dining by opening one of his restaurants in the Terminal Hotel at St. Louis Union Station. In order to provide efficiency, the travelers ordered while still on board the train, and then the orders were wired to the restaurant manager, so that people could come in, sit down and enjoy a meal, and be on their way with as little time and hassle as possible. The most essential part of Fred Harvey’ success, as well as the most popular feature of his restaurants were the Harvey Girls, who greeted and tended to patrons with classic Midwestern manners and hospitality. Fred Harvey’s restaurant is now the Station Grille, which is located in the Union Station Hotel
Historic eatery set in Union Station Hotel & offering traditional American cooking.

Absolutely beautiful architecture, impeccable service, immaculate ambience. We stopped in for breakfast on day one of our first ever visit to St. Louis. When they heard it was our anniversary AND my birthday, they unexpectedly comped our meals AND the server covered mimosas for us. It was a very special memory. We will definitely visit them again when we return

Beautiful restaurant. The food is really good too and the price is really reasonable. The service was incredible. There was a mistake on our check and they ended up just comping the entire check for our Christmas dinner. You can’t beat that service! Shout out to Taylor for her great service and kindness. Would absolutely come back in a heartbeat!

The service was incredible. Jetnor was our waiter and he made our experience an elevated one. He was attentive and more than friendly- he was joyful! I will also add that the host was also amazing- although we did not get his name – he should be commended as well. Someone in my party wanted a cappuccino – which they do not have – and the host went to Starbucks and got him one! We went here for breakfast and the fruit was fresh and my omelette was delicious. The restaurant is roomy and has a nice ambiance. I highly recommend.

I absolutely love Union Station. You can go to any restaurant in here and have a great time. The main bar area in the Grand Hall is top notch. The Whispering Arch is also historically interesting and is a must to see. I met a few old coworkers there to reminisce and catch up since they were from out of town, and I’m glad we did because I had forgotten that we have this lovely gem we have in St. Louis, Missouri. We just ordered drinks, but their food menu looked pretty good for the Station Grille. They lower the lights at a certain time for the ambience and then they display this quick light show and music as a way of switching things up. Whoever thought of this on their management team or marketing team should be commended. I know they’ve been doing it for a while, but it is such a cool thing to see.
Great place.

The Fam and I stayed at the hotel for Fall Break towards the end of Oct. and had the breakfast buffet each morning of our stay. Debbie and Taylor took phenomenal care of us! The buffet had lots of great stuff on it, so that everyone in the fam had several things that they liked for a super filling breakfast before checking out St. Louis for the day (I personally loved the lox bar). Some days it was the best meal we found. Can’t express enough how amazing the service was! Debbie is incredible!

Station Grille offers an absolutely fantastic breakfast buffet—we enjoyed it nearly every morning of our St. Louis vacation. The food was fresh, delicious, and had something for everyone. The atmosphere was relaxed, comfortable, and very family friendly. The staff were kind, attentive, and made us feel right at home. A great start to each day!

Our server, Debbie, was outstanding. Not only did she attend to our every need, but, provided a detailed narrative on the history of Union Station. She was so knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions.
They’re very fortunate to have her!!!

Perfect for convenient eating if you are staying at Union Station hotel.
Burger and full breakfast buffet were both good.
Everyone on staff was very nice – Debbie in particular was fantastic and remembered us the next day.

Bartending was almost tolerable, but a little too much waiting and attitude from a very slow bar. Food was not good at all. Southwest Chicken wrap tasted like a chicken wrap. Very bland, blackened chicken wrap tasted the same but the chicken was still cold. Would not recommend

Very cool classic dining experience. Stopped in for breakfast before we headed out for the day. Classic breakfast options on the menu otherwise they have a buffet with an omelet bar. Such a delicious meal and awesome experience
