If they would have followed my request they would’ve gotten a better review. I will not get in to details. I went there with our daughter and wife. They severed our daughter first, 15 minutes later my wife. Then after 40 minutes my dish came out. Later they said they gave what I had requested (the dish with less fish and more squid) but I had 20 pieces of fish, 2 mussels, 2 shrimp and 8 small pieces of squid. Let’s not forget that the soft shell crab was replaced with sea weed. The Ceviche was nice and flavorful, no popped corn as appetizer. The steak dinner was cooked to order. They should have bought all the dinners together, and the plate mistake would most likely have not happened. It was delivered by another waiter. Either way totally unacceptable. I have been to Peru and have enjoyed eating this dish several times so I know what it’s to have. In addition I have eaten in many Peruvian Restaurants throughout the world. This one takes the list of the top 5 worst restaurants. You can go and make your own review of this place. I am sure that I will never go back there. There was no compensation for their actions or errors. VERY DISAPPOINTED Dinner, left still hungry.

My friend and I went to Toby’s for the very first time yesterday. We were very impressed how nice the restaurant looked. The food was incredible I had the Chaufa with steak! It was very tasty. I’m still not sure what the green sauce was, but that was very good too! My friend loved her Pollo Broaster, she loved how crispy and flavorful they were. I would absolutely come back. There wasn’t many people there last night, I think this place should market themselves a bit more because more people deserve to know about this place. The service was very attentive too, they checked on us and refilled our drinks as needed.

Jorge made us feel welcomed, it was our first time there out of many many other Peruvian restaurants we have been to in the past, we love trying new spots!
Jorge loves to have great conversations we appreciate the fact that he explained what every single sauce was as well as what it is used for and he told us the entire backstory of the green sauce and a little bit about the restaurant itself he went above and beyond for me and my Grandparents extremely knowledgeable and we thank him from the bottom of our hearts WE will BE BACK! thank you again Jorge

I work a lot in Hartford and eat Peruvian at piolin and vista Algar pretty often . This place was better in my option . Go try it out people ,it’s really good. Very authentic,tons of flavor . Service and as also good ! We’ll be back over and over

We finally got around to trying this local place for lunch takeout a couple of times.
Walking in, we saw they did a nice job with the big old Chinese buffet space.
There weren’t many people eating lunch there, but there was a steady stream of takeout customers both times. Staff was friendly and the food was made fresh so it took about 20 minutes, plenty of time to hit Stop and Shop for necessities.
First time there we tried a half pollo a la braza, it came with salad, fries, and green aji. Also got one of their $13.50+tax lunch specials, which was a quart of noodle soup(3 appetizers to choose from but I’m not a ceviche fan), and of the 3 entree choices had the fried chicken bits which came with salad, fries, white rice, and a can of soda. The roast chicken and fries were GREAT! Nicely spiced, not too salty, and juicy! Enjoyed the fries dipped in aji, too.
The chicken strips were breaded and fried well but the noodle soup was REALLY nice – packed with noodles and chunks of chicken.
Second visit I had another lunch special to go, chose the noodle soup again(yum!) and the entree was tallerin verde/green spaghetti with a fried pork chop. The pasta had just the right amount of spinach, basil, and oil in it and the pork chop was perfect, not oversalted and overfried like some places make ’em. Just delicious!
My favorite things to get at Peruvian places are the pollo a la braza and tallerin verde and they did them both just right, even better than Piolyn in East Hartford used to.
Definitely recommend them, looks like it’s a nice place to dine out for a date night, we’ll be back!

I highly suggest Toby’s Peruvian Resturant in Vernon if you are looking for authentic flavors and dishes. From chicken to seafood to fried rice, and deep fried corn kernels… you won’t be disappointed. I chose the ceviche, which had the perfect acidity with lime and lemon juices as well as a perfect mix of salt and spice. Others had their chicken fried rice from the wok, which was delicious. The garlic shrimp was not over garlicky, and came with a nicely steamed bed of rice. Shrimp was tender and soft. Everything was excellent. Hoping the food quality and service remain the same throughout the future. Lastly, place was very clean. Great work thus far.

My neighborhood spot, this Peruvian restaurant is really good. The place was nice and clean, and the food was good. They didn’t have liquor at the time we stopped by, but they had beers available. We tried the Peruvian beers. The service was great. Everyone was very, polite, and sweet. I will definitely be going back to try other items from the menu.

Took a little long to get the menu, while you wait there is usually a dip of cancha and crema de aji while you wait for your order, I got it together..the food was ok…ceviche needed more lime, and for the love of God ,stop playing salsa music, play Indigenous music,REAL PERUVIAN MUSIC, ALWAYS THE SAME ILD SALSA SONGS…Play Peruvian songs and music, thanks..

Was craving some Peruvian lomo saltado with my boyfriend and found this place. And I’m glad we picked it. Portions are perfect, huge variety of options to pick from. The waitresses were both very sweet and welcoming. Was very surprised to see how empty it was- must be the location however the inside is beautiful, i could really see it turning into a hot spot with some more promotion! Had a great lunch here and will definitely be back!!
