We enjoyed a really nice meal before we went to see a concert at Playhouse Square, Straight No Chaser. Kato did a wonderful job as she worked the bar and waited tables. We had the cauliflower appetizer and Braised short ribs for dinner. Everything was delicious! It was a great space to be before a concert and Kato did a wonderful job. We would recommend stopping by for anyone who is downtown. We will be back!

If I could give zero stars I would. I have attached a picture of my “spinach dip” that had no spinach and cheese was not melted. I tried to mix it up and it was so hard the chips were breaking. Someone else didn’t like their food at the table and before I could speak up about my food the waiter walked away and never gave me the chance to say anything. As it was sitting on the table she still never asked me how it was because you can look at and see it was nasty. There was an older lady walking about asking people how their food and skip over our table. I am highly disappointed. 10/10 would NOT recommend.

Let’s just start with the bad and get it out of the way. Ordered the New York Strip cooked medium with mashed potatoes and sub extra mashed potatoes. As you can see from the photos that the strip I got looked like it was ran over by a steam roller, cooked for 5 hours in 500* oven. Had no flavor, the Demi glacé had no flavor, and the mashed potatoes had a weird after taste.
I mentioned this to the waitress and she was apologetic about it.
I ordered the French onion soup for an appetizer and it was pretty good. I ended up reordering something and got a burger instead. Requested medium, came out well done but was pretty decent. The fries were good as well.
Not sure if this happened to be an off day or what, but other reviews showed decent looking steaks. I wouldn’t come here again.

I had a great experience at Ghost Light Restaurant. The service was excellent, and the waitress Kato was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, and I really enjoyed every bite. The drink, which was the house specialty, was well-prepared, and the Kato did a fantastic job in making it. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making the dining experience even better. Overall, it’s a wonderful place with great service, tasty food, and well-crafted drinks. I’d definitely visit again!

This place is great!! 4 of us are there on Valentines Day. We all got something different and it was all delicious. Server was fun and engaged. Food was excellent. Short ribs were best in town. Beef medallions were solid. Executive chef came out to say hello. It worked perfectly for theater goers. We will all be going back again! Well done!!

First time in Cleveland and staying a few days at the Crowne Plaza for a conference. Decided to get dinner at the Ghost Light after settling into our hotel room. Josh, the Food & Beverage Manager, was extra accommodating for my multiple food allergies and even had the chef visit our table to help me decide what would be safest for me to order. Very welcoming, professional, and friendly staff. Star was our designated server and was super attentive with 110% customer service. I ordered the grilled New York Strip medium-well without the glaze and with extra potatoes. My husband ordered a jasmine tea since he already ate before me.
Service was fairly fast with my food being ready in about 15-20 minutes after I ordered, and the place wasn’t ultra busy at around 8pm on a Saturday with about 3 other active tables being served. Steak was prepared excellently with only a thin layer of crispy fat. Potatoes were pretty good and the asparagus spears were well-cooked just how I liked em. Jasmine tea smelled great and tasted nice from what I sampled from my husband’s tea cup. I also ordered 2 shots of Johnnie Black straight, which paired nicely with the steak dinner. Total cost for the meal was about $80, excluding generous tip.
Overall, the food and service were 11 out of 10 stars! We’d go here again.
The location itself is tough to find parking, but if you’re already staying at the hotel, the Ghost Light is a must visit.
Addition: There is a buffet breakfast that closes at 11 a.m., which costs $16.95 plus tax per person. Luckily, the conference I’m attending includes a voucher for the breakfast, but regularly, it would cost about $35 for 2 people. There is an assortment of baked goods (bagels, mini muffins, bread), some cereal, oatmeal, fruits (grapes, honeydew, cantalope), Chobani fruit yogurt, milk, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, and bacon. I had the yogurt, eggs, oatmeal, and potatoes (I was hungry) and my husband had a pastry, eggs, potatoes, and black tea.
Even if breakfast was covered by my conference, we tipped anyway since our server Carmella was attentive, and Joseph, the day manager, was very helpful and accommodating. We’ll be back another day to enjoy more of the menu. ✨️

We decided to try this restaurant for the first time before heading to our show at Playhouse Square. Despite reading several negative reviews, we wanted to give it a fair chance, hoping for a good meal and pleasant experience. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing from start to finish.
When we arrived, the restaurant was fairly empty, so we didn’t expect any issues with service or timing. However, our waiter barely acknowledged us. He took our drink order in passing and dropped them off without any further attention. After sitting with our drinks for quite a while, he “took” our food order while simultaneously serving another table.
About 20 minutes later, he returned to confirm what we had ordered — clearly forgetting. We watched as other tables that arrived after us (including larger parties) received their meals, while we continued waiting. After roughly 40 minutes, he assured us our food was “on the way.” Another 20 minutes passed, and with our show starting soon, we still hadn’t received anything.
When we told him we needed to leave, he responded quickly and without any empathy — just, “I understand.” The manager was kind and came over shortly after, and while she was polite and admitted that this was not their normal service (and didn’t make excuses), nothing was done to make things right or offer any kind of compensation.
We left hungry and disappointed, rushing off to our show. Fine for drinks and conversation, but wouldn’t recommend for dinner. It’s unfortunate because we truly wanted to enjoy the experience, but based on what we encountered, we wouldn’t return.

Friendly and attentive staff. Atmosphere, hmmm, the decor is kind of all over the place but I like it. The food I received was a bit overdone. The gnocchi was mushy, not firm. And it took some effort to cut through the dry and overcooked breading on the chicken. The dish I had was, overall, fairly unbalanced. I also tried some roasted potatoes which were completely bland and unseasoned. Cleveland has so many amazing restaurants, especially in this specific area. This was definitely not worth the high price tag.

On Sunday December 7th, I decide to go to dinner and treat myself to what I thought would be a great dinner. I was sadly mistaken. I called earlier to see if I needed reservations and the person on the phone said I could come right in. When I arrived, it was pretty empty in the restaurant. 4 couples at 1 table and another couple not too far away at another table. I arrived alone and asked one of the bartenders if I could sit at a booth since it was around 7-8pm on a Sunday, not busy, and wanted to be served at a booth and not a high top. The waiter made me wait for a while to get an answer as I think she may have asked for permission to seat me there. As I mentioned, the restaurant was pretty empty when I was there. She then gave me the ok and seated me in a booth. At the time there were 3 bartenders there. The man bartender walked over to me, took my order. 5 mins later another different bartender walked over to try to take my order. I informed her that I had already placed it and said thank you. I ordered with the male bartender the NY strip meal, a glass of Riesling, and lobster bisque soup. A total of $63 without tax. I was seated close to the 4 couples who were older. One of the men, heckling so bad. Cursing and yelling while talking to his friends. I mean he was super loud and obnoxious. You could hear him if you went to the bathroom which wasn’t close. No one not a host, waiter, or bartender asked him to lower his voice. My drink comes out first. This wine was super bitter almost like a Chardonnay. Riesling which I ordered has a more semi sweetness but this was not that. I drink I think it’s in my head but I know this isn’t what I ordered. Because if I did, I would have ordered 2 glasses which I didn’t. The lobster bisque comes out. Not a single lump of lobster in the soup and was semi cold. I barely ate it. No biggie because I really care about my main course. The main course arrives and it doesn’t look that presentable but I’m still trying to enjoy the moment. I told the bartender medium well on my steak. It was charred, almost burnt and tasted like it. Drenched in some gravy that was not whatever. I actually needed the gravy to chew the steak as much as I could. It came with potatoes that looked and taste like porridge. Oh the broccolini… cold as ice and not cooked. Like they through it on the plate. No one checked on me between the wine, soup, or meal. Actually 2 bartenders left (a female and a male) which left 1 bartender. Which I understood because it wasn’t busy at all. Don’t forget the 4 couples are still loud as crap. I waited so long just to pay my bill. Once the bill came, it was between $63 (total) and $68 with tax. The next day I checked my account I was charged $85 even. I did NOT tip because the service and the food was so bad. So where is this extra $15-20 on my statement coming from? I have called this establishment on 3 different occasions from last Monday 12/8 until yesterday 12/15 trying to speak with a manager about being overcharge. I know when I tip and don’t have a problem tipping, but this feels like I was emotionally assaulted. I have been getting the run around like it’s a joke, like I’m nothing. This is so wrong to sneak and tip yourself as a bartender. I have the right not to provide extra, yet I paid my bill and wanted to dispute it there in the restaurant but didn’t get the chance to. This is not right, not fair, and someone should be ashamed for stealing from customers!

Theater goers BEWARE!!! We never received our food! We were seated at 6 our show was at 730. We left at 715 without ever receiving our food. Worst yet other tables did receive their food who were seated after us. The waiter apologized and it wasn’t his fault but he didn’t comp our drinks or offer any other solution. Seriously!!! The very very least they could have done is comp a drink!
