Fun place to visit! A “must” to be sure. More food than you can eat! The Thrown Rolls are delicious. Fried Okra, black eyed peas, collard greens, macaroni and cheese with tomato sauce, apple butter and molasses. It more like a experience! Been in business since 1942 Hometown Favorite. Tourist spot, also has on site Souvenir store. Not far from Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.
Fun for the whole family.
Meals were delicious as well. You will leave with a full belly! It was a adventure for sure. We will definitely visit again when ever we are in the area.

My new favorite place!!! The ambiance is really nice, the food is really good and the service was the Best! You get it all in this one place!! Our waitress, Monica was so nice and checked on us several times. The food arrived hot and pretty quick! Even all the pass arounds were served hot and tasty! I actually caught my roll!! I will definately be sharing my experience to all!!

Really enjoyed everything we got, I recommend the ribeye, the fried chicken was good as well. Seems like a random item but is probably my favorite side is the pickled cucumbers and onions, very good! Cornbread was good as well, and can’t forget the throwed rolls! The rolls pair well with apple butter and sorghum. The only difference between here and the sikeston location is no gift shop.

Lambert’s Cafe: A Southern Feast with a Flying Twist
If you’re heading to Lambert’s Cafe in Foley, Alabama, you need to come with a massive appetite and keep your head on a swivel. Famously known across the country as the “Home of the Throwed Rolls,” this lively and legendary institution is defined by its quirky, high-energy tradition of servers tossing warm, fluffy dinner rolls across the crowded dining room to eager guests. It is perhaps the only restaurant where playing with your food is not only allowed but actively encouraged.
The experience is a full-throttle embrace of classic Southern hospitality. Beyond the famous flying bread, the restaurant is beloved for its “pass-arounds”—a rotating parade of servers carrying unlimited helpings of fried okra, macaroni and tomatoes, apple butter, and black-eyed peas directly to your table. These complimentary additions ensure that you are likely full before your actual main course even hits the table. The primary menu is a deep-fried love letter to comfort food, featuring gargantuan portions of chicken and dumplings, country-fried steak, and slow-cooked pot roast that taste as though they came straight from a Southern grandmother’s kitchen.
The atmosphere is intentionally rustic, delightfully loud, and unpretentiously fun, making it an ideal spot for large families and groups. The walls are covered in nostalgic memorabilia, adding to the feeling that you’ve stepped into a massive country barn. Be prepared for a significant wait, as it remains a perennial favorite for both local residents and beach-bound tourists alike. However, the hearty, soul-warming flavors and the one-of-a-kind entertainment of catching your own bread make Lambert’s a must-visit Foley landmark.

Enjoyed my food. First time coming. They do throw those delicious bread rolls. The atmosphere is not as comfortable in my experience. This is a straight 4.5 in my book. Delicious southern food with a twist of fun. I would like to come back and try other plates. I would recommend the visit. The only thing is the understood, uncomfortable stare, from the locals and some staff. If there is a friendlier more welcoming to other ethnicities local I would give the absolute 5 stars.

Lambert’s Cafe opened in 1996, and they’ve been throwing hot rolls to locals and vacationers ever since. I’ve had straws thrown at me in other places, but rolls is taking the experience to another level. Serving the exact same food as the original Lambert’s in Sikeston, Missouri, they can handle any size group, from a couple on a date to a bus full. And while you may have to wait for a table, it’s well worth it. Favorite entrees are Barbecue Ribs, Chicken Pot Pie, Caesar Salad, Chicken and Dumplings, Chicken Fried Round Steak, Hamburger Steak, and Roast Beef. The wait staff are always friendly and efficient. Best item they serve, and it’s free with your meal, is the Fried Okra. Ask for a big pile, add salt, and enjoy!!! Take your leftovers home and that’s an added bonus. I’d highly recommend the apple butter for those throwed rolls. #yummy. They have a nice gift shop outside the restaurant, so you can take home your own mug and t-shirt to remember the experience. Those mugs are built to last. Lambert’s is a Foley, Alabama or the Gulf in general must do!

Loved Lambert’s Cafe. Would highly recommend to anyone to try. Great southern cooked food. Huge portion sizes for a decent price. I would definitely recommend coming hungry because the rolls and apple butter is amazing. The extra fixings made me go back in time to when my mom and grandma would fix fried potatoes, Macaroni and tomatoes was all delicious. If you are new in the area definitely try them out.

It’s been a decade since I last ate here. I always recommend this place to tourists or friends/family visiting. That wait line can be ridiculous! Had lunch here on Saturday just in time to see a bus drop off 50 or more people. Time for that hour wait. My group consisted of six plus a baby. My sister was visiting from LA, so had to take her here. We were seated after nearly an hour wait and I ordered the county fried steak w/green beans and cucumber/onions. Also a lemonade. The food and pass arounds were fabulous. Rolls stupendous. Every one caught a roll, but my sister got hit on her head and caught it afterwards. Recorded the whole thing and it’s as funny now to me as when it happened! Also slit two cinnamon rolls for the table. Only two complaints from the table to report. Bacon cheeseburger was bland and the ribeye steak while cooked correctly, had more char than desirable and some scrapping was needed. Service was excellent, we took lots of pictures and the staff graciously took them for us to remember the occasion. Lambert’s Cafe remains an institution, and I stand by that. I paid for lunch, and six people was a solid $200+ bill after the tip. Parking was great too and not a lot of traffic to deal with. Truely a fantastic lunch… that wait and that bill does not invite local dinning. I’ll gladly take friends/family who are visiting for a one-time experience so it might be another decade before I return. BTW, also bought souvenirs from the gift shop but I didn’t include that in that lunch cost.

I had previously been to a Lambert’s in Missouri, but my husband had never been.
It was exciting and very interesting for us. We got full fast. We didn’t catch a “throwed” roll, but our waitress asked us if we would like a roll and we said Yes.
Very friendly family atmosphere.

Fifi was the best! Thanks for explaining everything. Loved the rolls! Apple butter was the best thing we consumed! The drink cups were not my favorite. Seemed very old and used. Also took up a lot of table space.
