Just been here for the first time and I’m already a fan. The food was all cooked to perfection, the prices were a bit expensive, but were about what I’d expect for a hibachi dinner.
The atmosphere is nice with some traditional wooden decor and tables where they cook in front of you. I do think the performance could have been a little more fun, but the chef’s skills were still impressive.
Overall, a really great experience, I’ll be back for sure.

This place is a joke. I traveled here from South Carolina for my grandsons birthday to have dinner with a part of 15 ppl. My daughter ordered 6 California rolls but it comes in rows. She brought out the first plate and she said she’d bring out the remaining and my daughter was like I didn’t want that many. She went to the back to tell them to stop making them and they said we had to still pay for them because they already started making them. The manager came out and called the police. The police agreed that we didn’t have to pay it but the restaurant was so pressed for $35!! We had sat there for 1hour ate soup and salad, placed our orders but decided to not stay after all the confusion. We were charged for the soups, salad and sodas… and rolls because the manager seemed like she wanted to cry over $35!! We paid $175 for soups, salads, sodas and rolls no food.. As a manager there was no compromising due to the waitress misunderstanding the order taken. Thank you WPD for showing up and handling the situation and hanging out in the parking lot laughing..

Dinner last night proved to be a disappointing let down. As we were seated, it became immediately apparent that something was different. In the past the tables have ALWAYS seated 8 people as the norm. Tonight every table sat 12!! People! 3 on both sides and 6 along the front. To say we were tight was an understatement! It was very uncomfortable. Not pleasant at all.
Also, because now the chef had to cook 4 extra meals at the same time , it took more time to cook everything. So through no fault of our chef, half of the food in the plates was already cold by the time you could begin your meal. I’m sad to say, after years of enjoyment, it will be a long time before we consider dinner here again.

It is pretty obvious that Yamato’s best days are long past. The building looks derelict and abandoned from the street. The highly advertised outdoor area is rotten and collapsing.
The interior has the requisite grill table. Our server was friendly as was the cook. A big draw of these restraunts is the cook’s showmanship and there was none. He cooked and that was it. I ordered an ice tea and the first sip tasted like soap. When I told the waitress she wasn’t surprised so I am guessing she heard it before. She offered some explanation that involved the dishwashers not rins>ng properly.
The soup and salad were nothing special. Utensils were a well worn fork and spoon. No chopsticks. The entree serving size was generous. But the prices were astronomical for what they delivered.
But at the end of the meal I was happy to leave. This place needs to have a humane end for its sake and the public’s.

Meh, I should have turned around when the wife said, “Is this place even open?” While pulling in the parking lot. Basic almost plain flavor no spice, even asked and was told we don’t have any spices, fried rice looked already cooked, soup laughable and salad drowning in dressing $65 for 2 and that’s the lower end of the menu so It’s your choice now but definitely never again for me

Over priced… paid $27.90 for this I requested extra veggies in the place of the rice and they charged me!!! WONT BE BACK I was refunded 3.50 but 24$ for this is still OVERPRICED……..AS IT SAYS IN THE REVIEW YOU REFUNDED 3.50 but 24 is still OVERPRICED FOR WHAT I WAS GIVEN. I was never dishonest. We clearly disagreed in person and on this review about WHAT I SAID but I definitely said INSTEAD of rice can I have extra vegetables, but with how slow business seems to be for you I see why the prices are inflated but hey good luck with the business and I wouldn’t say I enjoyed the dinner but tell the chef THANKS FOR THE EFFORT.

First time coming here. Our chef was amazing. Personable, funny and showed his culinary skills. The food was really good . It was a quiet and relaxing atmosphere . The bloody Mary was good as well. Will be coming back

Today we visited this restaurant to have a late lunch, but at 2 pm they had already switched over to the Dinner menu which I thought was early but not a huge deal. We were seated immediately, and our server got our drinks right away. I had my usual Maitai and Rowdy had a beer. We both ordered Chicken and Rib Eye and it was priced at $20.95 I am pretty sure. So overall pricing was fair. The chef was really good, and that is important in these hibaci grill restaurants. He had good skills with the utensils and he was funny too. The food was great, I thoroughly enjoyed it and have lunch for a couple of days. The restuarant itself needed some TLC. The Hitachi’s themselves were clean and well kept but interior could use some paint, woodwork cleaned and the lighting was dirty and in bad shape. The outside was in diar need of repair. Shingles falling off, paint peeling. Overall, good food and low prices. We will probably go back.

Joplin was an amazing waitress and deserves a raise. Our Chef was very good as well.
My Cucumber, avocado, and carrot sushi roll didn’t have but the smallest skid mark of avocado. Very disappointed in that.
The owner who was very rude when I tried to ask who the owner was she said she was just a worker here but I do believe she was also the owner. I proceeded to ask why there was only a skid mark of avocado in my sushi roll and she said that’s just how it is. So I would not recommend sushi from this place to anyone. I will never be coming back here either as the owner was too rude and she does not deserve my business. There is a picture of the skid mark avocado attached.
