Khao soi here is basically a spicy yellow curry with noodles. One of the best Thai dishes, and after you try it, you’ll be hooked.
Pad Thai is good here, I would recommend a 3 spicy level to those that like spicy but want other flavors.
The space is cozy, offering an atmosphere that feels more like stepping into someone’s home than a typical eatery. Each dish is a reflection of the chef’s unwavering pride, from the intricate layering of flavors to the careful presentation. Every bite tells a story—of time-honored techniques and ingredients that have been lovingly perfected over decades.
During one visit, we had the pleasure of speaking with the head chef, a man whose passion for his craft is palpable. When we inquired about his Pad Thai recipe and how long it took to refine, he humbly smiled and said, “My whole life.” It was a response that resonated deeply, encapsulating not just the dish but the very spirit of the restaurant itself.
It’s no wonder we keep returning—this place is a rare find in a city known for its vibrant culinary scene. Every meal feels like a journey, and while the space is intimate, the flavors are anything but small. Simply put, it’s one of Albuquerque’s finest, and we’re grateful to have it in our regular rotation.
The restaurant is open seating, but there are no signs telling patrons this, so people will come in and stand around, like we did, until the single server notices them and tells them they can grab a seat anywhere.
There are six tables that seat four people and one table that seats two. There are also four barstools along the bar for a total of thirty seats. There are no stairs into the venue so patrons in wheelchairs or with mobility issues will be fine accessibility-wise.
The menus were sticky, the tables were sticky, our glasses were dirty with lipstick that hadn’t been fully washed off, and the place had an overall grimy feel.
I had the yellow curry fried rice, which was somehow both sour and extremely bland. The curry spice was what tasted sour; I haven’t had any like it before and was thinking perhaps the spice went bad. The entree as a whole was very unappetizing. My companion ordered the pineapple fried rice and said he’d give his 1 star because it was extremely bland as well. The sodas we ordered were passed to us in a can with a cup of ice.
The restaurant had one server for the dining room who was also in charge of busing the tables and coordinating to-go orders. He was friendly, but the owners had done a disservice by only having one staff up front, as he couldn’t keep the place clean.
Having tried this place twice, I’m confident in saying I wouldn’t go back.
You can tell they have it in a bowl because it has that upside bowl shape (see my picture).
The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable!
I can easily recommend this place!
And they have take out and I am sure we will be using that service in the future!!
