We looked to the left… mcd’s. We looked to the right, LOCAL BBQ!
for the same price you’d spend on over processed garbage, we enjoyed one of the BEST meals we’ve had in all of our vast travels.
The beautiful lady who took our order was sweet, thoughtful, patient and kind.
The food, cooked to perfection. This meat is melting in my mouth.
Have you had good fried okra in awhile? Coz i haven’t until today.
Perfectly cooked: just the right crispy on the outside to perfectly cooked inside.
I’m one of ” those” who can’t have my food touch…. ( i didn’t mention it) and all the food on this togo plate is perfectly separated.
These beans? To die for.
The portions? Generous.
Highly recommend!!!!
I had dinner at Big Boy’s BBQ yesterday and was impressed by the quality of the food. We ordered the fish fry, and it was cooked to perfection—crispy, flavorful, and paired with sides that were equally delicious. However, while the food was commendable, the overall experience left much to be desired.
Upon entering, we were promptly greeted by the hostess, who informed us that the fountain soda machine was out of order. While understandable, there didn’t seem to be an immediate workaround in place, such as offering canned or bottled drinks upfront. We did order tea, but no ice was available, we settled with lukewarm tea with our meal. This small oversight set the tone for a series of operational hiccups.
When I ordered an appetizer, I was informed that no appetizers were available. I then asked for coffee, given the cold and rainy weather, only to find that coffee wasn’t an option either. To round things off, dessert was also unavailable. These repeated limitations detracted from the overall dining experience, making it feel incomplete despite the quality of the food.
To compound the issues, payment at the end of the meal was unnecessarily challenging. The point-of-sale system appeared to be experiencing ongoing glitches, which created delays and frustration for both staff and patrons. While standing at the register, I noticed the hostess struggling to collect payment from other customers. Interestingly, she eventually offered bottled 16oz Cokes to other patrons as an alternative to the broken soda machine, yet this option was never mentioned to us earlier in the evening.
Big Boy’s BBQ serves excellent food, but operational improvements are needed to enhance the overall experience. A few suggestions:
• Stock canned or bottled drinks as a backup for when the fountain machine is out of order.
• Consider investing in a simple coffee maker for cold days.
• Ensure reliable payment options by upgrading to a more dependable system, such as Square.
While the food earns this restaurant a solid 3 stars, the overall experience left a poor impression. With some adjustments to their operations, Big Boy’s BBQ has the potential to match its quality food with an equally strong customer experience.
