Sarah the Manager did not exude management material. I called regarding a Doordash order that was delivered with some added ingredients I never asked for. The restaurant was contact by myself via phone and I worked with the Manager that I was going to put in another order and it was going to be delivered to the same location. The Manager (Sarah), agreed, but then when contacted by Doordash, cancelled my order (for whatever reason). I do not tolerate this type of service. I did nothing wrong. I even was cool about putting in another order despite the efforts already put forth – It’s a basic order, that a basic employee couldn’t follow. Common sense is DEFINITELY NOT common when it comes to Hook Fish & Chicken on Lake St. Go somewhere else to eat better food and receive better service, in a better environment.
Don’t be fooled by the other reviews of this place. I’m going to be blunt and whoever take it a type of way that’s between you and your higher power – most of the reviewers leaving good reviews about the Manager is of the same ethnicity and they are from women. So when a male is expecting this same service, it’s definitely unfair – discrimination. If you’re black – go somewhere else. If you want good food, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. IF you happen to driving past and get hungry, hit that accelerator, AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
And those of you who eat here, you may want to watch for rat droppings – #WatchYourStep – Thanks. 🙂

The place was nice and clean the service was nice I had a great experience thanks to the excellent customer service at this location. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure I found everything I needed
The girl in the register is young but she’s so smart she knows my orders without saying she always helps me to find what’s best the food is delicious even the cooks they are so friendly nowadays it’s hard to find people like them Honestly, the place wouldn’t be the same without her. She’s a true gem and a big reason I keep coming back!

**Review for Captains, Hook and Fish Restaurant**
I recently ordered the Gyro cheese plate from Captains, Hook and Fish, and I must say, I was quite disappointed with my experience. The advertisement photo looked enticing, but what I received was far from what was promised.
Upon opening the box, I was greeted with a mountain of fries topped with cheese, and I could barely find the Gyro. It felt like I had ordered a box of cheese fries instead of the Gyro plate I was hoping for. The imbalance in portion sizes was frustrating, as I expected a hearty serving of Gyro to accompany my fries, not just a smattering of meat lost in a sea of potatoes.
I really dislike leaving negative feedback, especially for a local business, but I believe it’s important for the owner to know that the current presentation and portioning do not meet expectations. It might be beneficial to update the photos on the menu to accurately reflect what customers will receive. A little more attention to detail and a more generous serving of the main dish would go a long way in improving the overall experience.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I won’t be ordering the Gyro again. I hope this feedback helps in making some positive changes.

2nd time there first was better than the 2nd and I will not be returning we got 6 hushpuppies for 5.99 and only 2 pieces of fish ! I asked for catfish and it taste like tilapia! Also every one else got a free drink I didn’t which is weird !

One issue is it took a very long time to cook two 2 pieces of catfish, over 10 minutes, next thing is the kitchen as you can see from the counter is dirty, messy and disorganized. I was wondering why there wasn’t a single car in the entire lot. However I do have to say that you get a pretty nice large size portion of delicious, fresh tasting catfish, shrimp and fries for the price. Pretty good overall fur a quick decent meal.

I’ve been to many hooks on the twin cities. This is the worst one they didn’t even get me or my fiancé what we ordered NEITHER OF US!!!! and almost caused my allergic reaction to mayo adding extra mayo and no cheese when I asked for no a no mayo Philly they don’t even know English and if they do they can’t even hear because they have that ear bud in . Smelling like Burger King

I asked that my food be fried hard including thy fries. My fries were under cooked wings small and taste like they was fried in old cooking oil. It’s sad how much they charge but just serve customers anything I would not go back there the one in Columbia heights is way better I’m very disappointed and still hungry waste of time money and gas and they don’t answer the phone which is crazy because it was empty in there but I should had took that as a clue

This place is awesome, haven’t been disappointed once. The chicken strips/nuggets are prob the best I’ve had in Minneapolis. Gentleman at the front counter is super friendly & actually remembers people. Definitely recommend.
