Everything tasted good. Chicken was a delicious appetizer. Hopefully that chicken had baby chicks to pass on those wonderful genes for us to eat.
I thought the prices where great.
The remodeling is very nice. Definitely 1st base on date night.
And there’s beers sold also. That will help with 2nd base.

Walked in casually on a Saturday afternoon and SO glad we did. Excellent atmosphere, excellent service and food to die for. HIGHLY recommend. The brisket melts in your mouth, the rotisserie chicken is perfection and the mashed potatoes are beyond words. Our new favorite spot!

The ribs looked baked. As you can see by my picture the ribs had no browning at all. (That was the top, not the bottom of the slab.) They are a “full slab” (looks like it was cut in half lengthwise). I asked for beef but these look like pork. I was not told I wouldn’t be getting beef. The taste was good for both items without even using BBQ sauce at least. However, the texture of the ribs was very tough and almost rubbery in a way. The chicken was more moist and tender.

The whole chicken and “full slab” of ribs came to $32 something for carry out. Keep in mind that despite it’s name this restaurant is a rotisserie not a meat smoking restaurant. In fact the wood fired rotisserie wasn’t even going when we picked up the food. I would not be surprised if the rotisserie is for show at this point and the food is driven in from Red Wing pre made and then warmed up in the oven, given the appearance and texture. Or maybe they make large batches before the weekend and warm the meats in the oven for the orders.

Either way, I suggest sticking with the chicken or going to the restaurant in Red Wing. Maybe their meat is not looking so palid.

Absolutely a must visit! I cannot stress this enough.
I mean wow! You can smell the smoky goodness as soon as you get out of the vehicle.
The menu is perfect. There aren’t a million different things to confuse you.
The food is great. I enjoyed the Smokin’ Oak Cheese Steak sandwich. The bread was perfect. Not too doughy, not too crunchy. Just perfect. The french fries were delicious and perfectly done. And the au jus was absolutely phenomenal. I can’t recommend this meal.
The Smokin’ Open Faced sandwich was smothered in a robust beef gravy on top of bread with mashed potatoes with smoked beef brisket. Absolutely delicious.
The service was personable, friendly and patient (more than willing to answer questions).
This place rocks! I hope this helps. Cheers

The ribs smelled and tasted like rancid grease. We we walked in around 7 on a Friday and we were the only ones there, that should have told me about there food. The best way to describe their food, if you ordered bbq in a hospital. The employees were awesome.

Had the trio. Says feeds 2 (probably feeds 3). Ribs were delicious, smoked well and not soft; a good bite. Brisket was amazing tender, great flavor. The smoked chicken just falls off the bone. And so juicy. I really enjoyed the BBQ sauce at the table. Not too over powering and went well with everything; I loved it with the brisket. I felt I got a good value also. I spent the same amount at breakfast today and got way more food for my money at Smokin oak. They have an awesome wood fired chicken rotisserie right when you walk in. (see photo).

The beef brisket was really good. sauce could use a boost something to make it pop.. Would like to see an option to spice it up.

I never leave a review unless it’s worth it. We’ve been looking for a good rotisserie place ever since Boston market left town.
This place didn’t disappoint we came in late on a Sunday drove down from Woodbury and the food was still fresh and really good we were surprised.
We had the trio. The brisket was absolutely fantastic super tender full of flavor. The chicken was the same way very good rotisserie. The ribs were also very good. We dined in and it was very comfortable and cozy nicely decorated. The place smelled wonderful of smoked meat.
Honestly the only thing that was missing which was surprising it’s not on the menu is cornbread or biscuits. Isn’t that a staple with barbecue? Hastings is lucky to have this place I wish we had one where we live.
Will definitely be back.

Editing my review to reaffirm my position on this restaurant. Great quality and surprisingly good portion sizes. Price is good when compared to other rotisserie places. Inside is fairly small and rustic but still nice enough to be comfortable. I usually get the big oak burger, the burger itself is fairly standard but the brisket on top is fantastic and the fries are really solid too.
