Honestly I’ve been to a lot of DFACs in the Army but this one is one of the best I’ve been to. I’ve eaten there 4 times for breakfast and lunch and it was well worth the roughly $4.00 you pay especially for the amount of food you get.

The atmosphere is really nice but the food is basic army quality stuff overcooked and not very tasty. The culinary specialists seem like they hate it here. I understand them lol

I was a paying retiree and the person at the cash box seemed unfamiliar with how to process a paying customer. 1 of the servers was a bit “snarky” when I asked why the side dishes were being offered before the main dish as that was something I was unfamiliar with. Outside of that the food was adequate in terms of flavor. Most is not flavored but one dish was a little spicy. So it seems the food is either over spiced or under spiced. Good beverage choices and salad options. Good atmosphere. Good value for the cost. Overall a good experience.

I bring my family here and there is never a complaint. There are lots of choices if they don’t want it they don’t eat it.

I’m totally shocked at the state of the one dining facility on FWA. Before I left the Fairbanks area 5 yrs ago, we had 2 fantastic, top-notch dfacs. The food was always fresh, the service was always fast, and portions plentiful. I come back & have eaten there several times. Every time I’ve visited, the service is slow & the food is always barely room temperature or just cold, overcooked, undercooked & overall just bad. One of the best resources & benefits to soldiers is the dfac, but not when it’s allowed to be run at a substandard level. No wonder the number of soldiers I see actually use it is about half of what it was 5 yrs ago. What a shame!

I must say, my recent dining experience at the Army facility nestled amidst the frigid embrace of the Arctic was nothing short of remarkable. The establishment’s commitment to culinary excellence amidst such harsh environs is truly commendable. Upon entering, one is enveloped in an ambiance of camaraderie and warmth, a welcome respite from the biting chill outside. The fare presented was not only hearty but also exquisite in its preparation, a testament to the skill and dedication of the kitchen staff. From piping hot stews to perfectly roasted meats, each dish was a symphony of flavor, expertly crafted to satisfy both palate and soul. Furthermore, the service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring that every need was promptly attended to. In sum, my visit to this Arctic dining haven was an experience to cherish, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to any traveler in search of sustenance and solace amidst the icy vastness of the North.

They change their time frames almost every month, their food is not always fresh as they use what was left of the last meal for the next meal(un-preserved in-between), any time they have chicken it’s either not cooked fully or dry like paper, the white gravy is watered down with a 40:60 ratio, their biscuits are 90% of the time bricks(yeast is not supposed to be treated this way), drink fountain is not maintained 80% of the time. This is by far the least cared for DFAC, no love goes into the food as you can taste the difference between good food and food cooked by people who don’t care along with the fact that time frames are not set in stone. I refused to leave a review for the longest time, but I’ve had enough.

No complaints here, best meal in town for the price. Was a taco Tuesday, went with the chicken fajita which was prepared perfectly. The salad bar is fresh and fully stocked. Plenty of drinks to choose from. Did I tell you it cost $5.60 for lunch? Hands down the best deal on base for lunch. Did I tell you the price? Great dining experience, ton of TVs playing sports. Only thing missing is a tap of beers to choose from…. did I mention the price? I have eaten at the post hospital which use to be a good deal but their product has gone way down hill. The bees knew is the Soldier defac.

The food selection of the breakfast menu can get repeative, though I wish they Gatorade drinks instead of soft drinks.
