I recently stopped by Funchos on Main Street in Westhampton Beach for a casual lunch and my experience was overall enjoyable, though with a few minor caveats. The location is tucked away just off the main drag, giving it a relaxed, local-vibe that’s refreshing in the Hamptons.
Upon entering, I was struck by how friendly the staff were and how the menu offered an approachable mix of Tex-Mex style fare—burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and the like. The portion sizes were generous, especially for a spot in this area, and the price point felt fair.
I ordered a burrito and a side, and the food arrived promptly which was appreciated. The ingredients tasted fresh, and I liked that the menu had some creative touches (though I didn’t try the more adventurous items this time).
The outdoor seating space is a plus: there are tables outside, giving a casual, open-air feel which makes it a nice stop after a beach day or for a laid-back dinner.
The atmosphere was comfortable—not upscale, but clean and welcoming.
However, there were a few things that dampened the experience slightly. The salsa and other condiments, while good, lacked the punch I was expecting—some heat or sharper flavor would have elevated the meal. Also, the indoor seating is limited, so if the weather turns you might find yourself waiting or stuck outside. Funchos has amazing food but I wish you could buy a cocktail and it’s not clear if it’s a service restaurant or a take out. Made the atmosphere seem a little weird. Great food though and nice staff.

I had a deeply disappointing experience at Funchos in Westhampton Beach. Despite explicitly stating my dairy allergy and confirming four times with the staff that no cheese or cream would be in my tacos, I discovered small amounts of cheese hidden under the meat in one of them when I got home. When I called to address the issue, the manager denied the presence of cheese, and only after persistent questioning did the chef admit to adding a small amount. This level of carelessness regarding food allergies is unacceptable and puts customers at serious risk. I will not be returning and would advise others with allergies to be cautious.

Food is average. The most disturbing thing that is this day and age there is no recycling at all. Even returnable glass bottles are thrown out in the trash. They try and fool you to think they are eco freindly by giving wood utensils. But when I asked why they don’t recycle, they said “we don’t have the time – its too much work”. Lazy people. It’s the same amount of work – you just need 2 separate containers.

Birthday dinner, called in a big order. Sent son to pick up order, he waited way longer than they said, got home and an entrée was missing along with chips and guacamole. Called to ask about the meal and was told they didn’t no longer make the vegan burrito. The woman who took my order went through it several times to make sure she had everything, never mentioned they no longer made it even though it’s on the menu. Couldnt be bothered to speak to my son about it as he waited for the food or call back to let us know. Birthday dinner ruined, food was cold, and the attitude given was “Are you willing to come back for something else? Sorry, next time it won’t happen again.” Of course it won’t, not returning to this location.

Place takes a long time. They dropped my taco on the ground. Although it was wrapped, it was still gross when then the employee picked it back up and gave it to me. The fish taco that was not dropped was disgusting. Better options around!
