Signature Steak in Chicago absolutely knocked it out of the park. From the moment we sat down, every dish and drink felt thoughtful, indulgent, and expertly executed—this is a place that clearly takes pride in every detail. Quinn was our server and she was delightful and attentive.

We started with the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, which was an instant standout: perfectly crisp rice topped with fresh, flavorful tuna and just the right amount of heat. The Short Rib Croquettes were rich and comforting, with a melt-in-your-mouth interior, while the Oysters Rockefeller struck that ideal balance of briny, creamy, and decadent.

Then came the Tallow Fries—hands down one of the best fries we’ve had anywhere. Crispy, deeply savory, and completely addictive, they were a table favorite and worth ordering on their own. The She-Crab Soup was luxurious and silky, and the Lobster & Shrimp Roll delivered generous seafood and classic, satisfying flavors.

The drinks deserve their own applause. The Spiced Apple Old Fashioned was warm, balanced, and seasonally perfect, while the Smoked Maple Pecan Old Fashioned was unforgettable—smooth, smoky, and subtly sweet. We liked it so much we ordered two, and they easily ranked among the best cocktails we’ve had in the city.

Every single item was a standout, but the tallow fries, spicy tuna crispy rice, and the cocktails truly stole the show. Signature Steak delivers elevated comfort, bold flavors, and an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. Thank you for a lovely experience!

Visited Signature Steak for happy hour on Jan 30 after hearing all the hype. The $7 deals sound great on paper…the execution, not so much.

The “truffle fries” were just basic fries with a truffle-ish sauce. The sirloin croquettes were dry with an almost rock-hard exterior. The tuna on crispy rice was just okay. The Rockefeller oysters were the best bite of the night, and even those were small, dry, and a bit overcooked.

Happy hour drinks were basically half drinks, which definitely takes the shine off the “special.”

The space is small and was very loud during our visit. Our server, KJ, spent more time questioning who seated us than actually serving us, which added unnecessary awkwardness to an already mid experience.

Overall: not terrible, but definitely not worth the hype. I paid for this myself, so this review is, too.

Signature Steak is easily one of the best spots in the South Loop. The atmosphere is classy but still comfortable — perfect for a date night or dinner with friends.

The food was outstanding. My steak was cooked perfectly — tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The sides were just as impressive, especially the mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. Everything came out fresh, hot, and beautifully presented.

Service was excellent, and the staff made sure everything ran smoothly without feeling rushed. You can tell there’s real care in both the food and the experience.

If you’re looking for a quality steakhouse in Chicago that delivers on both flavor and vibe, Signature Steak is the place to go.

Amazing restaurant with delicious food and friendly service. Was arrived at their happy hour, the happy hour menu prices are great. Try to order all of them and are all tasty. Especially the hot tuna on the rice cake, it was perfection. The oyster rocker came with 2 pcs. The vodka spegatti has very crispy topping with delicious tomato sauce. The salads come with big plate. Was here for birthday and they provide a complimentary cake which was very memorable.

I had dinner with friends here and the food was delicious! The bread was soft and fluffy. My friends said their salmon was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I had the beef short rib and the meat was tender and juicy with very little fat. And don’t get me started on the peach cobbler. As a Georgia girl, I cannot remember the last time I had peach cobbler so good. I didn’t even think you could get peach cobbler that good, this far north. It had the perfect ratio of biscuit to peaches. The biscuit was savory and I could taste the butter in each bite. The peaches and sauce were not overly sweet. (Chef’s kiss!)

Review for Signature Steak

I recently dined at Signature Steak and had a mixed overall experience. First and foremost, I want to highlight the service, which was truly commendable. Our waitress, Quinn, was particularly outstanding—she was friendly, informative, and attentive throughout our meal. The hostess, whose name I didn’t catch, also provided a warm welcome, setting a positive tone from the very start.

Unfortunately, the food did not quite meet the high expectations I had for a steakhouse. We ordered two NY strips cooked medium, but what we received was a bit underwhelming. While the center of the steak was pink, it was surprisingly tough and lacked the juicy, flavorful qualities I typically associate with a well-prepared steak. In fact, it had a texture that could easily be mistaken for well-done, which was quite disappointing.

Overall, while the service at Signature Steak was excellent, the food quality fell short of what one might expect from a top steakhouse. I would love to see improvements in the kitchen because the atmosphere and staff truly do have potential.

Great choice for my 1st dining experience in Chicago. The staff is amazing! They made note of my vegetarian diet, and ensured my food was prepared accordingly. Food is delicious and served in hearty portions! Classy, chic & comfy decor. Ambience and vibe was relaxing. Great for a catch up with a friend, date night, or small gathering. I observed the other patrons enjoying themselves as well. The attention to detail by the staff during your dining experience is exceptional!! I will return during future visits to Chicago!

We have been to a lot of steak houses downtown Chicago & the ribeye was one of the best if not the best we have tried! We got a little bit of everything, oysters, pull apart bread, steak, a salad and some sides. The chefs special dessert, some sort of banana pudding was ultimately the best banana flavored dessert out there very light not too sweet! We will be returning! KJ was an amazing waitress who took her time answering all our questions about the options on menu even though they were busy last night! She checked on us frequently and our drinks were refilled when needed. Great service and great food is very rare to come across nowadays!

The bone-in ribeye was tender enough to cut with a butter knife. My French Onion soup was robust but not overbearing with the sherry wine, the cheese had a great pull. The garlic mashed potatoes were 4 star material enough butter but just a hint of garlic. My server was friendly & informative about the menu including the drink menu. The entire meal was scrumptious. I’ll be back there again in the near future.

We booked for Valentine’s Day last minute since most restaurants were fully booked on OpenTable. The restaurant wasn’t packed, and we arrived a few minutes early, but it took about 5 minutes to find a table at the host stand, and we were placed by the door, right near host stand even though better tables were open.

After being seated, it took 15 minutes before we were greeted by a waitress. The staff then decided to move us to another table, saying the first server was busy. Once relocated, it took another 5 minutes before we could place our order.

They were offering a prix fixe menu for $95 (starter, entrée, and dessert). I came specifically for the steak, which was excellent – especially the Wagyu, easily the highlight of the night. However, choosing the Wagyu added another $85, which meant we were paying $180 for Prix Fixe for what was essentially bread, dessert, and steak. Considering the à la carte price for Wagyu was $125, the prix fixe felt like poor value.

We also ordered Brussels sprouts, which never arrived even by the end of our second course, so we canceled that item. Our server mentioned she was new, which I appreciated, and she did her best under the circumstances, but the overall service was slow and disorganized.

On top of that, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. We normally tip generously, but this experience really didn’t justify a guaranteed 20%. It almost felt like the staff knew service quality wouldn’t affect their tip.

Overall our bill was $252 – bread, steak, raspberry cheesecake as dessert and 1 cocktail.
Great Wagyu steak is I highly recommend, but the service, value, and organization fell short. If you go, I suggest adjusting expectations for the overall experience.
