Laissez Faire Wine Co. was established in 2012 out of a love of European wines and approachable food pairing concepts. Over the years we’ve always wanted to create a space just for Laissez Faire to thrive. This exciting location at the Boardwalk Apartment Homes is a perfect opportunity to allow the wines and attitude to flourish.

IMMEDIATE LOVE AFFAIR
After a hike up Bogus Basin, hubs and I were hankering for a chill winery with snacks and beautiful scenery. A quick Google search led us to this winery, not far from our place. It’s situated conveniently right off the Boise River greenbelt and their outside heated patio faces the biking path.
This place is absolutely adorable – from the vibes, décor, to setup!
WINE ON DRAFT
The wines are easy drinking and that’s how I like it. They allow a tasting prior to committing to a full pour. I am a white wine gal — “Fizzy” and “Spice” rosé were both magnificent! In fact, both were so good I wound up being a member and also bought myself the a “flask” (1/2 off the first fill!!) of Spice rosé to go.

Both the gals (both named Emma) on staff were super friendly and helpful.
PARKING
Parking is a bit annoying as it’s paid-by-app/phone, and one must create an account. However, it’s affordably $1/hour.

The wine cocktail was good! The food was minimal and the small bite I got was just ok staff was very friendly. If you’re dropping in for a quick drink it’s worth it! Probably not worth a long trek to get there.

Laissez-Faire is the optimistic effort of Cinder wines to market their decidedly second-string wines in a lovely setting next to the river in the Boardwalk complex in Garden City. Alas, the letdowns begin with the parking (a paid lot is about all, with many reminders on signs bearing QR codes, reminding you that you need to pay). There is no on-street parking to speak of.
The wines are mediocre. The Petite Syrah tasted exactly like cardboard; I kept hoping I was wrong. Nope. I finally settled on the Sangiovese but it bore little resemblance to its Italian namesake. No wonder: Cinder, who owns this place, would rather you buy and age their wines for them than sell reds that are good and ready to drink. Ageing wines takes time and they are in a rush to get their wines sold. Cinder’s Tempranillo and Syrah are decent (once you age them yourself) but, alas, are not to be found at Laissez-Faire.
There is no food to speak of. A bowl of peanuts (like you get free on an airplane) is $2. A bowl of olives is $4. All that’s left is a single slice of bread with a slice of apple, some mild cheese, a slender stem of thyme, and honey that gets everything sticky, for $5. Calling these pathetic, puny morsels “tapas” is a deadly insult to the real thing. But that’s all they have. Why bother?
In short, you are going to the hassle of paying for parking in order to stare at the Greenbelt, which you could otherwise do for free, and drink the second-string wines, with essentially nothing to accompany them. Good service (yes, it was good) does not make up for these truly lame offerings. It is a sad waste of space and a nice view.

I have had many great experiences visiting Laissez Faire wine bar. I can’t say enough about the incredible service and great tasting wine. The staff always goes above and beyond to welcome and take care of their guests. We love having a bottle of the chilled LF red wine on the patio. Highly recommend!!!

We had a great experience! A group of us met to check out the place. So much fun, a great location and I loved the little market inside to create your own charcuterie board. The wines are delicious as we already knew from their other tasting room. We will definitely be back!

Can not recommend Laissez Faire enough! Such a great location on the greenbelt with a great view and the wine is delicious, the single glass pours are so convenient and the service is great! The sand area is also such a fun addition along with all the restaurants near by, definitely worth a stop!
