Interesting seafood restaurant in downtown Carrolton KY. Went on a Sat night about 7:00 in the fall. Outside seating available in warm weather. Mostly empty inside restaurant but lots of people getting carry out. The fried shrimp was excellent, large shrimp, crusty batter. Fries slaw very good.

Despite having heard poor comments about Captain Hook’s for a while, we decided to give them a chance, and VERY pleasantly surprised. I had the fried fish and shrimp while my better half had the fish. The portions were LARGE and both the fish and shrimp were hand breaded, the fries fresh cut, the hush puppies excellent, and the cocktail sauce fresh mad also. I don’t know if the tartar sauce was made in house, but was good, also. On the whole, a very tasty, plentiful, and economical meal. I hope this goes to dispelling their rep. We’ll DEFINITELY be going back!!

Nice little locally owned restaurant. We dined in at the outdoor patio, about 5pm and there’s an umbrella on one of the tables which we used. But it’s a REALLY nice view of the Kentucky and Ohio Rivers. There was another outdoor dining area next to the building, too. It looked street accessible so in that case it could be wheelchair-friendly.

We actually had a 16 year old recommend this place! He said the salmon was the best he had ever had. My family enjoyed the deep fried catfish and said it was awesome! The color greens were out of this world. And the reds beans and rice were the best ever, shrimp was great too. They were all very friendly. The owner even took the time to talk to us. Excellent food and warm atmosphere! Will go back!

The dining area was clean, nice cool environment on a hot day. Pleasant atmosphere. The food was alright for the price, the fish dinner that I ordered was a bit overcooked. We did have to wait a bit for refills on the drinks after asking the staff for refills. The dessert was very good, but believe that the restaurant purchased these items from a vendor and not made at the establishment. Overall a pleasant quick meal for a small town restaurant. The décor was awesome with the sea motif theme.

Visited here a couple times. The prices seem a bit high for the quality of food you get. The homemade ranch really is delicious. It wasn’t busy both times we visited, but the service was a little slow. Waitress was extremely friendly and was great in recommending stuff to try out. We haven’t been here for several months now, so perhaps some things have changed. Both times we visited originally were not too long after it opened.

The waitress was awful and never would come back to table. Found hair in my red beans and rice. The cooks had dirty hands,long string hair no hair nets. They open at 4 we get there at 4:30 and my husband wanted sweet tea and she told him they were out. Hey how bout making more.

We had catfish dinner, chowder, and fish and shrimp dinner. Everything was very good. Catfish was prefect. Husband really liked the the fish and shrimp. Our server Haley was really nice great service. Quaint little place.

I have lived in this area for years. And not one time did I know about captain hooks.i have driven by so many times. I wish I would have known sooner. There was two people working the cook and the waiter. Was greated as soon as we walked in the door. Food was cooked fresh/ made as ordered. Will most definitely be going back love the little gem hidden in plain sight

Food was really good…our waitress was Kathy,she said she was just filling in for the day but she was an awesome waitress!! Both of us had the all you can eat Catfish, and it was great!! The spicy hushpuppies were great!! Hat’s off to the cook!! Will definitely visit this place again!!
