Jack’s Place is an awesome hidden gem! The food was fresh and delicious — I had the tenderloin and onion rings and both were outstanding. Portions were generous, prices were fair, and the service was friendly and welcoming. Even when our sodas came out flat at first, they quickly fixed it without any hassle. Great laid-back atmosphere too. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to!

Cheese Curds were okay. I had fish and onion rings. Very greasy and not seasoned. Friend got the tenderloin. She said it was tough. Food was served hot. Staff admitted that regular cook did show up. That might explain some.

Jack’s is my favorite bar on the south side! All of the staff are so excellent and are nothing but kind to me when I come in. Their fries and mini corn dogs are the best in Des Moines! The corn dogs even beat the state fair’s because of the high quality chicken glizzies used. I highly recommend Jack’s Place to anyone looking for great drinks, excellent food, and low prices!

This place is awesome. The club sandwich was so good and so big, I couldn’t even finish it. apparently it was trivia tonight. One of the best trivia games I’ve ever played. The bartender, I think her name was Ky was serving up amazing drinks with a really awesome attitude behind the bar. Don’t get that everywhere.definitely recommend
