I came here because while I craved good Mexican food, several places disappointed. Not here. From the great service; neighborly camaraderie of Vidal (manager); authentic meals; and the coziness of the restaurant alongside the Main Street feel of downtown Butler, WI. Spectacular entree and cocktail presentations for birthdays and any dining event. Vidal is a mastermind, and I definitely recommend this place. Very clean inside and the food comes out quickly. Great location that’s easy to find. Very worth checking out.

Hello.
Simply avoid this place. Spend your hard-earned money elsewhere.

The initial impression of this establishment was quite negative. The oily chips, served in a filled basket, raised concerns about their quality and proper oil temperature control. Adding to the disappointing start was the lack of available Wi-Fi. While the menu appeared appealing, the price of $17 for a taco dinner or combo seemed excessive, especially considering their apparent inflexibility with order customizations and the extra charge for basic additions like lettuce and tomatoes.

Beyond the initial service and pricing, the overall ambiance and cleanliness were also concerning. The dirty floor and dimly lit atmosphere gave the place more of a cantina or bar feel than a welcoming restaurant. Observing the waitress occupied with her phone while the floor remained unclean further contributed to the negative impression. Although the black plates were a nice touch and margaritas seemed to be a specialty, the fundamental aspects of welcoming atmosphere and cleanliness were lacking.

Unfortunately, the food itself did nothing to redeem the experience because it was horrible. The beans were bland and had an unpleasant flavor, barely edible, while the rice was even worse and completely unappetizing. The sauces were equally disappointing, with the green lacking flavor and the red being overpowering. Most significantly, both the steak and pastor were of poor quality, dry, and nearly inedible, making the steak burrito and pastor enchilada particularly bad. The enchilada, surprisingly, lacked cheese, and the flavors only worsened with each bite, ultimately leading to the meal being abandoned. I ate as much as I could but it was pretty gross. Despite a clean urinal in the dingy bathroom, the overall quality of the food made it an overwhelmingly negative dinner, making it a place to avoid.

El Taco Feliz is without a doubt the best Mexican restaurant in the Metro Milwaukee area. Every time I eat Mexican food anywhere else, I find myself thinking I should’ve just gone to El Taco Feliz instead because I can’t help but compare everything else to how good their food is.

I love the carne asada Mexican street tacos and margaritas!! Thanks for always providing quality, affordable food and fast, friendly service.

Food is excellent. Full flavored spicy, not so bland and Americanized. Menu selection covers just about anything. The owner is more than gracious. Always have an enjoyable lunch experience. Unusual for a restaurant, there are no fountain soft drinks, serving in cans or plastic bottles. Highly recommended

This used to be my favorite spot, but it’s gone completely downhill. I ordered the birria ramen and it came out with barely any meat in it. When I said something, the portion was still short. On top of that, I felt overcharged for multiple items.

The owner was rude and more focused on squeezing extra money out of customers than providing good service. The vibe is not the same, the quality isn’t the same, and the experience definitely isn’t worth the price anymore.

Very disappointing. I won’t be back.

We went to the restaurant, not the taco truck. We walked in at 8:00 on a Friday night and nobody was there. Why? I don’t know! The service was great and the food was delicious! The chips came with 3 salsas, 2 red and one green. Each one had a little spice, but not so much that you’d want to cry. We ordered Cokes, and they came out in cans–just so you know. The dinners all come with rice and beans, and the tacos come with your choice of cilantro and onion, or lettuce, tomato, and cheese. I had the tostadas, which were super crispy and topped with fresh avocado. Our son ordered from the kids’ menu and got 2 tacos and rice for $6. We didn’t get any, but a sign said they had $5 margaritas. Next time! We spent about $70 for 4 adult meals and one kid’s meal. We will definitely be going back.

Very good food, chicken enchiladas were good and my wife really liked the steak tacos. She is a bit fussy about them and has her favorite places. She said these were as good as any of her favorites. The chips and salsa were very good also and included with our meal. To make a comparison, a bit like Hectors in Tosa as far as the salsa goes. (One of my favorite salsas)
The restaurant is a bit on the simple side and not real big. Our server took a bit to warm up but was then OK. Pricing is reasonable by today’s recently restructured standards. Overall . . .
Restaurant = 3
Service = 4
Food = 5+
I will go back again.
