The Wife and I went there on a Sunday and we’re disappointed by the way, they prepared the food. They were heating up some of the food up in the microwave, and the rice that they gave us was dry. You can tell it had been setting out because it was hard, it wasn’t fresh. We plan on giving them one more chance. But, this time we will request fresh rice. I’m not sure if this business is gonna last for long because on a Sunday. It was only four people in there. Including us.

Welp… I’ve been here quite a few times but unfortunately, this might be my last visit.

Came in after work to decompress before going home dealing with my kids. I was immediately seated. I asked the waiter if the honey old bay wings were dry rub (I’m normally a lemon pepper girlie) compared to the honey glaze. He said yes.

So, I ordered them with a side of cabbage and mac and cheese. I also ordered their frozen island drink.

I waited for quite some time (restaurant was basically empty). I was getting impatient and wondered why I hadnt been brought a water or anything in the meantime. The waiter came back and asked me to confirm if I wanted my drink frozen. I reconfirmed and then asked for a glass of water.

My food came out before I got any drink. I immediately noticed that the chicken was glossy. I ask the server if that was the honey old Bay wings I’d ased for because I was told they were dry rub. He said they were honey glaze. He took them back and told me he would bring me the correct one. Meanwhile, my drink finally comes from the bar, overflowing…a mess. But it did taste good.

I ate the cabbage, but I did notice it tasted different then usual as that’s something that I normally would get here. It wasn’t too bad, so I ate it. I got to the mac and cheese and immediately noticed that the entire perimeter of the mac and cheese was burnt and stuck to the bowl it was loaded with so much grated parm cheese on top, you couldn’t taste anything else. I quickly sat that to the side, because who was eating that? I boxed it up though. Maybe a kid will eat it.

My initial waiter then comes to the table with my new order of chicken, finally. It is equally as glossy as before. I asked him, what kind of chicken is that. He said it was the correct type this time. So I asked him, why would you tell me it was dry, rub, if you clearly knew the chicken wasn’t dry. His reply was well, oh, it has a little bit of something on it, like a little bit of honey.

I sent it back and asked for my check. So I ended up spending $28 on a drink and some cabbage.

Very disappointed.

I was going to try to talk to the manager instead of leaving a review. So, I sat at the table and waited to see if the waiter would ever come back, but he didn’t. I think he was eating in the kitchen or something.

Anywho…

Now, i’m stuck trying to figure out where i’m going wings from tonight because I have my mouth set on them.

I ordered the curry goat for take out with mac n cheese and rice n peas as the sides. The curry goat tasted very very good. After cleaning the bones out the portion was a little small for the $20 price point. But other than that it was super tasty!

The mac n cheese definitely wasnt my style. Others may like it, but it has a different taste then I’m used to. (When this place was called “Jerk n Jive” their mac n cheese was my favorite. )

I’m looking forward to trying the Oxtail next time, and some other items on the menu.

My boyfriend and I went here for Jamaican food and absolutely loved it. This Black-owned spot delivers amazing flavors and great service. The food was seasoned perfectly, fresh, and authentic you can really taste the love in every bite. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and made the experience even better.

My server, Ashlyana, was amazing! She suggested we try the new crab dip, and it was really good. The portions were generous, which we loved. They even have a space where you can play 8-ball and try axe throwing, which made the experience even more fun. One standout for me was the oxtail egg rolls—something completely new to me, but absolutely delicious.

What a beautiful restaurant! The lighting, the seating, the set up are welcoming. This is a great spot to host a group lunch or small event. Fabulous customer service – every employee is willing to help support you whether with your meal, recommendations, or just refilling your beverage. The food is also delicious! I’ve been here twice – once for brunch and once for dinner and both had great options. For dinner, I ordered the oxtail, white rice, and cabbage. Great choice but the next tike I will most likely order rice and peas. The Bob Marley frozen drink was tasty as well. Frederick’s new Caribbean spot!!

Husband and I went on a Sunday midday and enjoyed the patties, the burger, and the curry chicken. All were absolutely delicious. Patties have a little spice (that chicken patty is the absolute BEST) and the curry chicken is authentic and fantastic. Husband loved the burger and we loved the presentation on everything. HIGHLY recommend. VERY different food since the turnover from the previous restaurant that was there. We had excellent service, too: friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. We were really impressed. If you haven’t been give it a try. Can’t wait to go back and explore the rest of the menu!

This is our first try of this restaurant after it changed from the previous one. With the limited order, this review is only focused on the oxtails and jerk chicken wings that we ordered.

Here I’m giving the oxtail and a five star . They were delicious and flavorful. Oxtail cooked to the perfection, easy to take off the bone & flavor was authentic. The rice came with it was a perfect complement. Chicken wings were bursting with flavors and not dry. Also the portions of the sides were plentiful, very solid.

Highly recommend by @winedinenvacay
and we are looking forward to dine in person in the near future.

I had the jerk chicken, plantains, cabbage and my friend had the curry chicken, rice and cabbage. Both dishes were delicious, portion sizes were large, and the overall dining experience was good. For my first eating here, I had a good overall experience and would likely return during the lunch hour. The prices are higher than I anticipated but the food delicious!
