Bartender is the sweetest! She’s so nice and friendly, and clearly loves what she does and the people who come to Papa Joe’s. She makes food at home to bring in so bikers don’t have to go hungry, since the bar doesn’t have a kitchen. Her ham and corn chowder is ! Cold beers and a cool atmosphere. Would definitely recommend, and we’ll be back.

Met up with some friends last Saturday night for my birthday and it was awesome, drinks are affordable and is friendly and everyone is nice.. I feel and felt very comfortable. Bar tenders are awesome and friendly and servers are always coming back to our table and cleaning up and asking if we needed anything.

Favorite Hangout… back in the 70’s! Went to HS in Missouri Valley and had a horribly made fake ID, which was used regularly at Papa Joes. The owner, Dean Dewaele, founded it in the early 70’s? Just looked him up and unfortunately he passed away in 2012. Back then, Papa Joe’s had live bands when Led Zeppelin, The Who, BTO, Black Sabbath, Chicago, Yes, and many more ruled. Smoke filled stage, lots of long hair, and Levis jean jackets. It was quite the happening place 50 years ago, and I’m happy it’s still going strong today.

It’s a good atmosphere, good space for a small town. There are a couple dart boards, a pool table, foosball table, pinball machine, giant jenga, and an outdoor smoke area. None of the games interlap. The bartenders are very friendly and have good service. There is usually either rock or country music playing in the jukebox. They have pizza and popcorn, not sure about other food. Good place to go of you aren’t looking to eat.
