We moved here from San Antonio a little less than a year ago and we’ve been missing the food so much. Ran into another Texas ex-pat the other day and she said La Unica was THE PLACE. went for breakfast and was not disappointed. They even have big tubs of fresh pan dulce that was sooooo good . Went there for the first time and saw one the one door saying if locked please call. So I did and lady sounded rude when I asked her are you open? Only to get a response of yes and then I replied okay but the door is locked. She then said yeah I know and hung up on me. Another woman came outside and said to go through another door which we did. The food was alright but the bathroom was disgusting. Dirty sink and dried blood on the toilet paper. If you’re looking for legit Mexican food come check this place out but don’t go to the bathroom

Update. They now have a very large section of chiles (including morita) and other ingredients. The price and service is great. I came in hoping they had canela (Mexican cinnamon) for turkey mole, ended up leaving with raisins, pepitas, sesame seeds, and star anise. I just purchased a few pounds of various chiles online, otherwise I could have gotten those here as well.
(original review 2025). Was looking for a specific ingredient (morita chiles). They don’t stock them, but the woman working called over to the main shop to check – which I greatly appreciate. I grabbed a substitute which ended up working better.

I used to get barbacoa and tortillas from the Moorhead location and figured I’d order her cause it was closer.. well the barbacoa was not as it used to be the meat they used was totally different of what they used to use and dry.. normally their barbacoa was made with lengua.. but this was not that look more like a much cheaper meat was used.. and the tortillas used to be fresh or bagged that would only be a couple of days old.. instead what I got was a manufactured pack.. the tortillas were also so bad they fell apart as i tried to pull them out they were 3 times thicker than a standard tortilla should be making them harder to even make a taco.. I got 2 lbs. And just gave them away after only 2 tacos.. taste and texture was more like fast food fake barbacoa.. now I’m hesitant to order from them again.. I used to get food almost every weekend was away for 2 years, but now I’d rather not waist my $.. I wish I could leave a better review.. but I’m that dissatisfied.. but the service and delivery were on point no complaints about that..

Finally got a chance to go into La Unica on South University and order some food. Absolutely fabulous! Bought a few homemade things for the fridge, too – Spanish rice, tortillas and chips. Yummy. Go if and as often as you can.

Hair in food, girl worker said “fagg0t” in a personal convo on her phone, and with tip… this was $45 for seven street tacos (inflation, i get it). good vibe overall & food/sauces tasted great, but please step-up quality of your services! EN SERIO, GRACIAS!

The food here is so good!!! If you like tacos and other authentic dishes you have to go!! Also they have a market and I was able to find dried chilles and so many other products you cant find in the grocery stores. 15/10
