Best kept secret in Galax!! This is a unique place to say the least. You go down a side street through a vintage half glass door, then turn right and descend down some stairs to the basement where you will find a custom anti covid window and sliding rubber maid tub system. One of the best I have seen by the way. Here you can place an order or pick up a call in order, which I would suggest. Now besides all this location’s mystery and intrigue, the food is what we are here for. I have never crossed paths with a Ban mi that I did not like. ST’s version was a bit different, I am used to cucumber on them and no onion (most of the time) the French bread was also less stale than expected. I like a good crisp bite almost rip thought the hard bread. Just part of the experience. However the sandwich easily gets 5 stars with the seasoning of the meat and the lightly pickled carrots, cilantro, etc. My new favorite sandwich source when I am in Galax VA.
UPDATE: now that covid is over, the dining area is open, I like the atmosphere, even though it is in the basement, it is clean and well kept. It just adds to the experience. Not very busy, people come in to pick up call in orders fairly regularly, but we were the only dine in customers.

Update: Food is still very good…..when you can get it. Posted hours seem to be more of a suggestion than anything else. We’ve called to try and get takeout the last two Saturdays in a row with no answer, no update on the Facebook page as to being closed, etc. This has happened MULTIPLE times, and is a little frustrating.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Galax!! The Kimchi tacos and bubble tea we got today were AMAZING! Consistently good food and super friendly people. I’ve NEVER had a bad meal from this restaurant. Highly recommend!

Ok…drive up to the side entrance with the broken sign, view the menu that has maybe nine things on it and walk down a dank stairwell to a window with a view onto a toaster oven. Nobody ever showed up to take an order. Blame it in Covid? No. Since Galax is not a Foodie paradise, I had hopes.

Fantastic food and great service! Very cozy and affordable. Their garlic shrimp noodles are so tasty and have a powerful flavor without being overwhelming. The chicken curry is delicious and very filling with a savory flavor of spices and vegetables. Highly recommended!

First time trying after wanting to for so long! It was great the flavors are amazing and so different. You can really tell the authenticity of the food and you get so much! Prices are very reasonable for what you get! You should try this out for the experience of having something different! The only thing I would change maybe would be location or maybe upgrade the space they have. Cant wait to go again!

Ate here this week while in town for business. I give it a solid 4 stars. I eat Vietnamese food about once or twice a week when I am home so i know good Vietnamese when I have it. They don’t have Pho on the menu during the week (must not have much demand for it) only on weekends. I had the 8 dollar bowl of noodles with pork and egg rolls. Tasted pretty good. The soft spring rolls (3 for 5 bucks) were outstanding. All in all a good choice for chow in the town that time forgot!

Customer service is wonderful. You can always depend on the chef’s consistency and timing with the meals. My favorite restaurant in all of Galax. And because Covid-19 protocols are met, safe to eat and enjoy soothing music or programs in a captivating atmosphere.

Love-love-LOVE this place. Debi and crew are warm and friendly people who put heart and care into their craft. The spring rolls with peanut sauce are so good (5stars) and a great snack if you’re not up to a large meal. The banh mi sandwich is always on point(5 stars) and the pho (3stars) is good when they have it. Galax is super lucky to have this hidden gem. You can’t beat the prices. Do NOT be put off by the basement locale and sparse decor….I actually think it make it more authentic. You’ll be so glad you went!!!!
