My husband and I are always open to new experiences so we tried this restaurant. We ordered tamales which we love, however, these came out not the firm delicious massa that we know, rather they were a loose gruel-like muck. Next came the tacos, 1 chicken and 1 pork tongue (hey, we like to try new things). They were both unremarkable. We both ordered enchiladas with a side of rice and beans, not knowing it came with rice and beans, but we couldn’t ask the waitress since she spoke about 5 words of English so we ended up with rice and beans to feed a village. The enchiladas were literally drowning in a Verdes sauce which despite that were less than bland. Worse, the centers were cold as if they were quickly microwaved but not checked for doneness. I will say my spicy margarita was good, though I had to wear my coat while drinking it as the temperature in the place was maybe 55 degrees. All in all I’d never go back and warn anyone else to stay clear.

Our food was very enjoyable and the staff was friendly. We also had a pleasant time eating outside.

This is great, we’ve been going to their other restaurant in East Moriches for many many years. Now we have the option to go here when we shop in Riverhead. Excellent traditional Mexican cooking and menu. This location retained the liquor license from the former Golden Jalapeño So they have a bar and you can get a beer or mixed drinks with or without a meal! Outstanding!!! Can’t wait to go back soon!

Would give less then one star if possible. Avoid this place. We ordered a banana shake and a water. The shake was more of a banana water. The water came out after the shake by about 5 minutes. We ordered 2 beef tacos and 2 pork tacos. They were dry but edible. Also ordered a chicken dinner with beans and potatoes. The chicken was blah and the sauce spicy. We received beans but got rice no potatoes. Waitress was maybe the worst one I ever had and barely spoke English so complaints were of no use. The plastic silverware was also a treat.

Quality of food and drinks was very poor. This used to be much better under the last owners.

Food is bland yet sauces are all red pepper for flavor. Potatoes on the menue arrived as rice, rice cooker rice that was partly hardened into dry lumps. Service was sad, just sad.

The food was fresh and delicious. Just like a home cooked meal. We will be back.

I don’t usually write reviews but they deserve it. If you’re looking for a family owned spot, with fresh and authentic Mexican food then this is the place to go! All of the ladies working were very sweet and the food was delicious! I will be coming back soon.

Went for the first time since new owners took over after closure of Golden Jalapeño. I rarely post reviews, but my experience here was awful from the food, the service and overall experience.. staff was extremely unfriendly or informative when asked questions. Food was low quality and overpriced. I was a regular when this place was Golden Jalapeño and owner was Luis. I’ll never go back and hopefully this will save someone else from similar experience.
