Had an amazing experience at Horto. The whole place has a very calm and elegant atmosphere, especially with the rooftop setting overlooking the city. It feels modern and refined without being overly formal, which makes the experience really comfortable.

What stood out the most was the philosophy behind the food. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and knowing that most of them come from local producers around the Milan area makes the dishes feel even more thoughtful. Everything felt very seasonal, clean and well balanced.

The presentation of the dishes was beautiful but still natural – nothing felt forced or overcomplicated. Each course had its own character and the flavors were incredibly precise.

Service was also excellent: attentive, knowledgeable and very relaxed. The staff took their time to explain the dishes and made the whole evening feel special without being stiff.

Overall, definitely one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had in Milan. If you appreciate modern fine dining with a strong focus on sustainability and high-quality ingredients, Horto is absolutely worth visiting.

I recently had dinner at Horto Restaurant in Milan, and it completely lived up to its Michelin star. The atmosphere is absolutely stunning—the moment I walked in, I was blown away by the beautiful design and the gorgeous, tranquil vibe of the space. It immediately felt like I was in for a really special evening.
The food was completely on point from start to finish. Every single dish that came out was not only beautiful to look at but packed with incredibly balanced and innovative flavors. You could really tell they care about using the best ingredients. What truly tied the whole night together, though, was the service. The staff was genuinely great—warm, attentive, and always there when we needed them, without ever making us feel rushed or hovered over.

We came here for a birthday breakfast. The food was decent, but the breakfast menu is extremely limited, only 3–4 options and the portions are quite small. The view and terrace are nice, weather permitting.
The concept of the place is a bit unusual: “bio food,” minimalism, and supposedly farm-grown ingredients. They don’t serve alcohol in the morning, which felt strange, especially since it was almost 11 a.m. and we only asked for a glass of prosecco for the celebration. They refused, even though the bar was fully stocked.
They did treat us to a small birthday cake, which was a nice touch, but our waiter seemed rather unfriendly and indifferent. Maybe the atmosphere is better in the evening, but for breakfast I wouldn’t recommend it.
The bill for three people was €70.

In terms of positives, this was easily one of the best and most unique meals I’ve had in one of the most beautiful settings – each dish in the 5-course tasting was unique, flavourful and delicious. The portions are well-sized and we were satiated by the end. The ambiance is really stunning, the views from the terrace are stunning and the decor inside is minimalist and beautiful.

Unfortunately the service was a big miss –
1. Upon arrival, we asked to be seated outside, to which they said no as all the tables were supposedly booked – only none of them got filled for the rest of the night and no offer was made to change our table, which started our night on a poor note (they said they had last minute cancellations, though it’s a bit odd for that to be the case for every table)
2. It took 2 hours for us to receive our first course (we arrived at 8 PM and received our first course at ~9.40 PM), and we weren’t given any warning or heads up as to the timing. While we understand fine dining is meant to be leisurely, this was a bit much and we should’ve been informed at the start so we knew what to expect (we ended up leaving at midnight)
3. There was a piece of plastic in my dessert that I luckily noticed before taking a bite and they were able to replace – the staff apologised and compensated my drinks for the night, but it was still a miss for a place of this calibre (and undoubtedly a health and safety concern).
The manager of the night, Oscar, was lovely and took as best care of us as he could, even contacting me after the dinner to apologise for our experience (which is why I’ve given them 2 stars for service).

All in all, we loved the food and the ambiance, though there definitely need to be improvements to its service levels to ensure the meal is worth it.

This was one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had! From the absolutely amazing service to the equally good food this was a meal I will be thinking about for a while.
Lorenzo was our waiter and he went above and beyond. Our group had some dietary restrictions and he accommodated on the fly as well as giving an attention to detail I rarely have experienced. He recommended other local cuisines for us to try as well as giving us in depth explanations of the fermentation and produce sourcing that Horto follows. He absolutely helped make this meal truly special and would not have been the same without him.
I also want to call out Claudia who gave us her recommendations and was extremely attentive throughout the night.
Can’t recommend this place enough – especially for vegetarians. Bonus if you can sit at the chefs table. It truly made it special to see each course being prepped.

Went there for breakfast. Small menu with the basic options. Good coffee. The pastry of the day was ok. Good eggs Benedict but maybe more sauce is needed. No available fresh juices. Service was friendly but very slow as the hostess was also the waitress. Nice venue with a/c. Indoor and outdoor seating with a view.

Clean, stylish decor, an outdoor seating area and a central location make this eatery a nicer place to relax than to eat in. Dishes were heavily sauced, meats were on the chewy side and servings of wine by the glass – while well chosen – were a bit skimpy.

Had a fabulous dinner, Alfredo was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the meal and his team made us feel warm and welcome. In my email I explained that we are celebrating a special occasion so I want the dinner to be perfect, and they went above and beyond by serving us not one but two complimentary desserts, apart from the one on the courses. Super impressed and had a memorable evening

If you’re a serious foodie or epicurean, then this is the place for you. Very expensive, but worth the price if you like to push the palate. The wine pairing was one of the best I’ve ever had, so I highly recommend doing the full experience. Service was excellent and explanations were carefully articulated in English. They even let us substitute one of the dishes on the 7 course tasting menu for my wife. A must stop if you enjoy the best of the best.
