Been to many of the various Margaritas restaurants around Charlotte over the past 6 years- this was by far the very worst and notably, the only terrible experience we have had. We ordered a pollo con crema and a chicken and steak fajitas (and mentioned seafood allergy). Boyfriend’s food was correct but mine was some sort of shrimp and steak quesadilla, and the server had to have the manager come by because she didn’t understand what I was saying. He said they would correct it and bring it right out. When the food finally came it was shrimp, chicken and steak fajitas. The server took the plate away once again, but it came back almost immediately without shrimp, and without sizzle. So I had to find the manager to ask for it to be remade once again with a seafood allergy. My food finally came once my boyfriend was done eating, though it was missing a side and the tortillas were flour instead of corn. She brought us the check and to my surprise, nothing was comped for the troubles, nor any discount applied. I don’t mean to sound entitled but that is pretty standard procedure in the food industry. I explained this to the manager and he finally apologized for all the troubles (as no one has up until this point) and he took off ten dollars. The food was good, service was terrible, and the atmosphere wasn’t as cozy or warm as the other locations. Though this one is closest to home, we won’t be back.
Editing to add: just noticed they didn’t even discount $10, he corrected the fajita price from the 3 meat, to the 2 meat price and then took off $5. What a joke

I had a business meeting at Margaritas and the restaurant is fantastic. The ambience was perfect. The service was attentive, fast and our server was great. As the name suggests, you have to try the Margaritas! I had a massive torta which was amazing. I highly recommend this establishment!!

Went in and there were two people eating should’ve known something was wrong with the food. Started with a guacamole couldn’t eat because it tasted like garlic with a little bit of avocado. Ordered a fish with rice and black beans fish smelled like burnt grease and tasted like a mop bucket so did not eat. The second dish was steak, rice and black beans. It was not eaten Due to the steak, not tasting like meat and the rice and beans was also a no go. The third plate was shrimp, rice and beans. The shrimp were the size of Captain D’s very small with no flavor just tasted like hot crunchy shrimp rice and beans were not eaten. Oh yeah and it came with corn, canned corn. Will not be going back ever the food was expensive, but if it were edible, they could justify that price, but it was not. This place look nice. They just need to hire an actual Mexican woman that knows how to cook. The good thing was the final bill was 50 something dollars because they took off the fish plate and a steak plate.

This restaurant has delivered exceptional service since we’ve been coming over 8 mths now. Every time we’ve come, the service, food and drinks are exceptional!
And it’s always clean, the restaurant and restrooms (which are super cute)!
The wait staff is always very friendly and accommodating, have not had a bad experience to date. They make you feel welcomed and keep a smile on their face. Whatever requests we have, they ensure it’s done timely.
Manager is also very friendly and always asks if everything is OK.
Food is always fresh and seasoned well, and the drinks are excellent!! Many options to choose from. Found out today, they run weekend specials on blue shots(excellent) and house margaritas (on the rocks or frozen)!!
This place should be rated 5* and all over social media and packed! Definitely underrated. Will continue to patronize and tell others!!! Keep up the exceptional service, Margaritas Matthews!!

I had 3 mini chimichangas a side of refried beans and rice and a sweet tea with lemon. This meal was excellent.Everything came out fresh and hot.I was so pleased I could not eat it all. The service was good, but I think maybe my waitress did not speak good english, but she still was a very nice waitress. The atmosphere was amazing.Love the music and the whole vibe while sitting and eating

Everything was absolutely delicious! We are just passing through but if I’m ever near I’m definitely going to stop. The food was delicious the staff was very friendly and our food came out quick and hot! Im not sure why they have 3.6 stars this place definitely deserves a five star. Fun, fun, fun! Margaritas in Matthews is my new go-to for Mexican cuisine. Of course, they have to have delicious margaritas, right?!!! And their drink menu is as vast as the food menu.
Be sure to order the delicious fresh guacamole.

This was my first time visiting, and I absolutely loved it! Our waiter, Pedro, did an amazing job, he was so respectful, attentive, and made sure our drinks were always refilled. He constantly checked in to see if we needed anything else. Such a gentleman. And the food was really good. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Short Version
Setting: Lunch on a Saturday
Price: Fair for the serving size
Food: Really freaking good!
Service: Perfectly adequate.
Long Version: My wife and I came into the restaurant around lunchtime on a Saturday. They were plenty of people sitting outside, but not many sitting inside. They definitely are not scrimping any money on the air conditioning as it was nice and cool inside. The decor is colorful and tasteful. My wife and I are not super big on decorations from Dia de los Muertos; however, there wasn’t too much of that.
The Table salsa was really good and a little bit spicy. We ordered a large guacamole and, it was really good! Again, remember that we are from Southern California and we don’t judge that one lightly. My wife ordered the grilled chicken nachos and made it supreme. It tasted fresh and well flavored. I ordered a Burrito A La Pina and it tasted really awesome. The pineapples were cooked perfectly and mixed very well with the chorizo and chicken inside. Their beans and rice were very good.
The weight staff came at appropriate intervals. I never had an empty glass of water, which is a big deal for me, and we didn’t get too much intrusive checking in.
Overall, I do not understand the other reviews saying that this place is overpriced, or that the portions are too small based on the price. The portions are very appropriate given where we are, how much the rent probably is, and inflation.
The booth seating was comfy while supportive. When we ordered guacamole, we didn’t have to ask for more chips. We were told they would be brought out and we got a fresh bowl within two minutes. Also, when our food was brought out, the wait staff accidentally knocked my wife’s fork off the napkin and under the plate. We didn’t have to say anything. She immediately apologized and replaced it.
Also, the food was really good. If you like good Mexican food and don’t want to drive all the way to the other end of Monroe to get it, you should come here! We really liked it!

Excellent tableside guacamole which isn’t always easy to find in NC. As a California native with family in Mexico I know good guac! This place has it. Margarita is really good as well! Nice clean location with great glass art and friendly fast service. Shrimp tacos were excellent and great refried beans also difficult to find in NC. Will be back! Best Mexican in the area.
