Nicely curated Italian restaurant serving fresh made to order food. The wine list is very good with nice options. The verde salad is very flavorful with a combination of avocado, peas, and cucumbers with a shallot vinaigrette. The margherita pizza was also very good. The mushroom fusilli pasta was very flavorful and served el dente. The special squash ravioli were delicious. The service complimented the quality of the food. I highly recommend trying this restaurant.

We went in without a reservation on Friday night. They accommodated us at a table. Staff was super attentive and friendly- We ordered one pizza, which was Neapolitan style. The crust had a little bit of a chew, which I personally love. The tomato sauce and cheese were perfect. It made me feel like I was in Italy for a few minutes. I would have ordered a second pizza, but we decide to share 2 apps instead. The beets & burrata were a nice combination…. I regret not trying a different pizza! I love the background music, which brings me back to my childhood listening to my parents Italian music on Sunday mornings. After our meal we sat at the bar, which was quite vibrant and fun even though it is a small space. Cocktails were great- we went for 2 Italian cocktails that we had in Tuscany this past summer….. Ever, the bartender did not disappoint with a Hugo Spritz and a Spicy Tarantella cocktail. Can’t wait for the outside dining this spring! Hope they add more vegetarian options to the menu.

I hope that this reataurant will make it, because it’s a place that I would definitely go to again. The service was impeccable, their food was tasty and fresh, appealing to the eye too, and the ambiance was inviting, pleasant.
My only suggestion is that the owners invested in some signage visible at the side of the road, actually, because getting to this place can be a bit confusing, even for today’s GPS (the reataurant is tucked in behind an alley, past some buildings that don’t make it visible); I could see one change their mind about going in for dinner after some thorough search, especially when it’s dark outside.

This family owned Italian spot is an absolute gem. A much needed addition to New Canaan. The pizza and pasta are devine. Ambiance and service are unmatched. Not to mention a superb selection of wine. Can’t wait to get back for one of the best meals in Connecticut.

Tried this new spot out over the weekend. We had a little trouble finding the restaurant since it’s tucked away at the end of a small alley with minimal signage. We started with some classic Italian appetizers, then I had the chicken francese and my wife had the carbonara – everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. We sat at the bar, and the drinks were top notch. Solid Old Fashioneds and a nice wine selection. Bartender was charming, warm, and attentive, really making the evening enjoyable.
Only thing I’d mention is that the pricing felt slightly out of step with the atmosphere. The menu leans toward fine dining, but the overall vibe is more casual, almost family-style, with several tables including children.

Doppio is a welcoming restaurant that delivers an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is both refined and relaxed, with warm lighting and charming details that make it perfect for anything from a casual drink to a special dinner. The service is attentive and friendly without ever feeling rushed.

The Calamari and Insalata Mista are a must to start dinner. The calamari was perfectly cooked and the addition of zucchini and cherry peppers added the perfect touch of brightness and flavor.

For entrées, we had the Chitarra and Fettuccine, and both were incredible. The homemade pasta had that perfect texture and bite, and the sauces were rich yet balanced making it some of the best pasta dishes we’ve ever had.

Everything tasted crafted with care and precision. We’re already looking forward to going back again soon.

Really enjoyable Italian in New Canaan. Our waiter, Jorge, made excellent recommendations, knew the menu, and was both attentive and courteous. I recommend the rich and interesting Pici pasta and the chicken parmigiana. The Caesar sale was light and flavorful with crispy croutons. Cocktails are delicious, with a particularly fine Bee’s Knees. Ask for Jorge!

As somebody in the restaurant and service industry,
I find it very unprofessional that we were rushed through our meal just because it was a slower Tuesday night.
I respect all restaurant and service industry workers, and my husband and I were nothing but diplomatic when we came in at 8:30 PM to order a quick meal at the bar.
But we were faced with unfriendly service, despite our cordial behavior.
The bartender couldn’t help but let us know that although Google states they serve until
10 PM, they prefer to close early Tuesday nights.
They proceeded to rush our food out, bring our entrées at the same time as our appetizers instead of coursing it out, and made sure we felt very aware that our presence was unwanted.
We are local small business owners in Stamford, and are frequent patrons of Doppio.
We would therefore never recklessly leave poor review unless it were absolutely justified .

First time at Doppio and it definitely won’t be the last! The food was absolutely amazing — I had the skirt steak, the special pizza, and the mista salad, and every bite was spot on. The vibe and location are perfect, it honestly felt like being transported straight to Italy. Our server, Ever, made the night even better with fantastic service and great recommendations. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

Absolutely love Doppio in New Canaan! The hospitality is incredible .. warm, welcoming staff who make the whole experience feel special. The appetizers were fresh and full of flavor, the fusilli pasta was creamy and absolutely heavenly, and the pizza? It must be baked in a magical oven with a secret ingredient I promise it was that good. And the dessert… oh, the dessert a piece of cloud that melts in your mouth. As I walked in, mi sembrava di essere entrata in una viuzza in Italia . It truly gave off that cozy, charming Italian street vibe. Can’t wait to go back!
