This place makes some of the BEST chicken noodle soup anywhere. Just loaded with ingredients! The broth was delicious and well seasoned. As close to perfect as you can make a soup.
The French Onion soup was also excellent. Lots of cheese and broth was well balanced. Just the right amount of salt.
The French dip sandwich was generous. Loaded with sliced beef and served on a fresh roll.
The waitress was excellent as well. She was very attentive.
Overall, an excellent choice to have a meal.
Tonight was no exception. I arrived with friends at about 6:45, and the dining room was about 50% full, which seemed slow for a Saturday evening. Our drink order was taken relatively quickly, but it went downhill from there. From what we could see, our server had 3 tables, one of which was a party of 6. Our table was also positioned so that we had a clear view down the hall (for lack of a better term), where the staff came out of the kitchen.
I ordered breadsticks for the table, and my friend requested the garlic dressing. Stephanie, our waitress, asked if she wanted Italian dressing. My friend repeated that she wanted the garlic dressing. The waitress said ok.
I had originally wanted the Charlie cheddar burger, and I asked if it could be done between medium and medium well (yes, I am aware how this sounds), mentioning that every time I’ve said medium well in the past, the burger had come out well done and dry. The waitress said she’d just put medium in then, as she wasn’t going to type it out because it would show up so low on the ticket that the cooks wouldn’t see it. I said I worried that it would be under cooked then and told her to go ahead and take my friends orders while I reconsidered. She again told me where the notes would be on the ticket, if she was willing to type it in. I repeated that I understood and to move to my friends.
The waitress got back to me and I was going to go with potato skins, and then did change my mind immediately to nachos. I requested no sour cream on them.
She brought our breadsticks and the coleslaw for my friends a few minutes later, without the dressing and left before we could request that or a refill on my friends beverage, which was empty. Told us our entrees would be out shortly and that it was good I hadn’t ordered the burger because they just ran out of burger. Since I had ordered beef nachos, I asked if I needed to change that. She said no, the burgers were patties…..
The bread tasted hours past fresh and the dressing would have helped the dryness.
When the food arrived, my friends zip sauce had a thick layer of lard at the top, looking pretty gross. My other friend requested mustard and a beverage refill. My nachos looked dry and overcooked.
Our waitress brought a replacement zip sauce and vanished again. I picked at the nachos, barely. No mustard arrived. We saw her down the hall to the kitchen, on her phone before she disappeared. We waited so long for her to come back (at this point, it seemed she was down to only our table of 3 and then a new table of 6), that I truly considered calling the restaurant to ask for her. She came back and asked if we needed boxes and I said no, mine was barely mediocre, my friends declined. She asked if we wanted dessert and we declined.
Brought the bill and there had been no price adjustment. I told her I was disappointed to pay for food that was overcooked. She said ‘so you know, I didn’t cook the food, and have no control over that’. Definitely not the response I expected. She did say she would get a manager and see what she could do. She was very rude in her response. When she came back, she had taken them off the bill, which I appreciated. I asked if they were out of mustard and garlic dressing also and she said no, she just forgot. I mentioned I’d not had such rude sass from a server in a while and she apologized. And then told me it was a good thing that I didn’t order the burger because they had just run out when she went to put the order in…
I’ve been a server and recognize it can be difficult, and that my original request was annoying. I own that. I also find it shocking when servers disappear for long periods of time and have attitude towards their tables.
Soup
Bread sticks
Shrimp and has browns
Popcorn is served before the meal to the table, most people liked this. I ordered the Chattanooga salad, it’s basically a bag salad with iceberg lettuce. They add plenty of tomatoes and mozzarella cheese as well as chicken. The crispy chicken on top was dry and over cooked.
The tables are jammed together and it makes it very uncomfortable when someone is brush against your chair every other minute. This is not the place to bring large groups, there is no room at the inn.
