La Panaderia, San Antonio, Texas is a jewel and best kept secret! I ordered their version of the Cuban. What makes their sandwich special is the housemade sandwich breads! Incredible! When you first walk in you’ll see their bountiful bakery with traditional Spanish pastries and many others like chocolate tiramisu! Salads are also a lunch favorite and I’m told that their black bean soup is perfection! The servers find a table for you and your party almost immediately. Be patient though, the lines can be about 25minutes wait! But well worth it!

Was hoping the pastry lived up to the hype, but I was not impressed. I had no idea there was a La Panaderia somewhat close to my home, and even more convenient, close to one of my customer’s office. Very modern cafe feel to it, and very friendly and helpful employees. I was craving pan dulce when I decided to come here instead, so I only looked at the pastry, not food menu. Not as much variety as I hoped. I chose 4 different pieces,: snickerdoodle croissant, blueberry bear claw, chocolate croissant square and something with dulce de leche/caramel? I got two doodles, so total came out to about $24 for 5 pcs. You definitely have to warm them up a bit (IN THE OVEN!!!) to truly appreciate the butteriness and crispiness of the croissant and the gooeyness of the chocolate. I was disappointed in the lack of the blueberry filling in the bear claw, and felt ho hum about the other pieces. I wouldn’t say they were “bad” , just not my cup of tea. My pallet just might not be sophisticated enough for this kinda pastry. I’ll stick with good ol pan dulce from Guanajuato Bakery instead. ‍♂️
*UPDATED: I HAD BEEN ZAPPING THEM IN THE MICRO FOR LIKE 10-15 SECS JUST TO SOFTEN, BUT YOU HAVE TO USE AN OVEN!

Fantastic brunch spot! We ordered the steak and eggs, which were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We also tried the ranchero eggs Benedict, and it was outstanding—the sauce had a great kick and everything was fresh and well-balanced. Portions were generous, presentation was great, and the overall experience was excellent. Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to for brunch!

This place was so tasty. The variety of options was amazing. The prices are very affordable for the quality and quantity. The portions are large, and Alfonso is the MAN! He has amazing Customer service. He brought us everything we needed as we dined in. He also had a very outgoing personality and made us a laugh which added to our experience. I definitely recommend this place 100%! The atmosphere is also inviting and open for many people to dine. Must try if you are in San Antonio!

My food was pretty good. I ordered the tequila butter steak and eggs which had a really good flavor. The black bean soup was also really good and came with bread which was delicious for dipping. 9/10

My husband ordered the ranchero eggs Benedict. Very very different than what we were expecting. I don’t think he cared for them. Personally I think I didn’t have enough egg and too much salsa. Also the type of bread used is better suited for a sandwich. 5/10

I ordered the abuelitas hot coco latte. I didn’t quiet finish half. Very very sweet and artificial. Most of the abuelitas flavor came from the chocolate chips. 5/10

The ambiance was very nice. 10/10 Staff was amazing. I wish I had tried the pan dulce. Maybe another day.

Our breakfast experience was absolutely amazing! The sweet bread here truly is the best we’ve ever had, and my Ranchero Benedict was cooked to perfection—a fantastic way to start the day. Even more memorable was the service we received from Alfonso. He went above and beyond, providing genuine and wonderful service. He was very sweet, offered excellent advice regarding the menu, and took the time to chat with us, making us feel completely welcome. We highly recommend this spot for both the amazing food and the outstanding team, especially Alfonso!

Amazing service fun the moment you walk in the door. At the register they are so considerate & thoughtful. As soon as you sit down, if you are fortunate enough to meet a server named “Poncho” he will tend to you the entire time, going above & beyond regular service. I will definitely be back & looking for Poncho. The food was amazing, as usual & the conchas & coffee are the absolute best!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We visited La Panadería while in San Antonio and tried a few items from their menu. Honestly, some didn’t make it to the photo stage because we ate them too fast

Here’s our little ranking:

Bakery:
• Tres Leches Croissant: 8.5/10. It’s on the smaller side compared to other pastries, but the flavor totally makes up for it.
• S’mores Croissant Cookie: 20/10. Absolutely delicious! The warm chocolate and crunchy cookie topping are perfection. Super recommended.
• Banderillas: 6/10. Not really my favorite, mostly because of the sausage. The croissant dough with sesame seeds is extra crunchy though, which I liked.

Savory:
• Hawaiian torta: 7.5/10. The pork was flavorful, but the jalapeños and pineapple weren’t evenly spread, so some bites were just meat. Still tasty overall.
• It also came with a soup (I can’t remember the name) made with black beans and smoked pork, and wow, it was a delicious surprise! I’d love a bigger portion because I didn’t enjoy sharing it with my husband Totally recommended, 20/10.

Petite Cakes:
• Chocolate Duo: 5/10. Even though I love chocolate, this one wasn’t my favorite. It’s not very sweet and the texture felt a bit chewy.
• Cheesecake: 8.5/10. Creamy, smooth, and not overly sweet. Really good.

We’ll definitely go back to try more, especially that s’mores croissant again!

Alfonso is always such a delight and very attentive. The staff is welcoming. Music is a vibe but not overbearing. I love that you can carry a conversation without yelling. Food feels fresh and not heavy.
