Food is super delicious ,hot, and fresh. Waitstaff is very unfriendly, you wait awhile before someone comes to the front entrance. Workers in the front are always on the phone or chatting away. Servers are ok, some don’t come back to check for refills. But the food is delicious! Great price, great quality. Staff needs retraining, phones should never be out unless on a break. Other than that, we’ve never been disappointed with the food.

They have good food. The service is subpar, but the food is good. First time I’ve had sushi and I didn’t get sick. I was very happy about that! I’ve heard of people getting sick from sushi at other places. But it was very good here. It was really pricey, and for that reason, we probably won’t be back. But it was a good once in a lifetime experience.

I loved going to Kurai, it was my favorite restaurant but this time it was inexcusable.
1. The seats smelled disgusting. It was so bad I had to ask to switch tables. But those smelled bad too. It smelled like old cleaning rag that was never changed. I was wearing a tank top too and after I left my arms were really itchy. If you notice everything looks dirty, especially the carpet.
2. All the plates were dirty and had stains in them. I had to look for one at the bottom that didn’t have stains. How can someone just overlook all the nasty plates? They just don’t care.
3. The worst part was the sushi. The rice was undercooked and hard. Every single one of them. I thought maybe I got a bad batch, so I waited for the new ones. They looked so good but I couldn’t eat them either. It tasted disgusting.
Overall I just felt disgusted. I don’t even want to imagine about the hygiene in the kitchen they raised the price too of course $16.63 for lunch on a weekday plus tip.

The food is good but the service is bad. I waited in the drive thru for my online order, no one ever came. I called, and got no answer. I honked, which I dislike doing in a drive thru, but I had no other choice. They still never came to the window. Im disabled and have and cannot walk without pain. I had to call my husband to come meet up with me, so he could go inside and get my order. Once he went inside, the workers were just standing there on their phones. My food was sitting there. Very unprofessional employees. Never again.

I absolutely loved going there. Our server, Marco, was very nice and welcoming to me and my family. More servers like him. The sushi, especially the avocado one, and its sauces were awesome. I would definitely go back.

ll you can eat for under $20 it’s such a great deal and that’s including one soft drink and believe me, food is so great that your drink is going to be the last thing you’ll consume.
Place is very nice, saw family’s there too, food is superb it’s one of the best places you’ll find in McAllen. It’s a no brain if you live in McAllen or just visiting by to go there and have such a wonderful time. I can’t wait to return there.
The only thing I must admit is that I didn’t go to the bathroom so I have no idea of how clean they keep them or the amenities you could find in there but I assure you that if you’re looking for a place to have a wonderful meal and spend time with friends or loved ones this is the right spot for you.

Most sushi options had cream cheese; which is okay- but it was not kept very cold… it was really busy when we were there, so not sure if that made it more
Difficult to keep items cold. I didn’t feel comfortable eating the sushi at the temp it was. The hot bar was basic, most things had large barely cooked white onions in it.

When to Kurai Nov. 10th at about 6:30 pm and it was not really busy. Our server was very attentive and helpful, the food was plentiful and seating was very available. The only thing that I had to take was drinking their drink selections and although they do have a number of selections, I dislike with having to drink Pepsi as mainly done in most Asian restaurants but not even all pepsi products were available. Overall I enjoyed the amount of food available and the attention provided by the server.

We won’t be returning. The food that should have been hot was cold and greasy. The sushi was warm. The husband became sick that night with vomiting and diarrhea. We were very disappointed. It was a short distance from our home and we had hoped it would become our regular stop for Asian buffet.
