I stopped by El Pescador in Downey for lunch and had a mixed experience. The service was great—friendly and attentive—and my Diet Coke was nice and refreshing. The chips were fresh and tasty, but the salsa was just okay. I ordered the lunch special with a cheese enchilada, beans, and rice. It was decent, but nothing to rave about.
The atmosphere was interesting—it seems like the restaurant also doubles as a nightclub. There was a large bar area and even a DJ playing music during lunch, which made for a lively (though unexpected) vibe in the middle of the day.
Overall, it’s a unique spot. I might come back to try something different on the menu or check out the evening scene.

I would of given it a 5 star for the food. But the tortillas were microwave heated. They were awful. Other than that everything we order was very good. And service was excellent thank you Lilly. She is an excellent waitress. And all the other staff.
To the owner or manager of the place please make sure the corn tortillas are being heated properly not microwave.

Decided to come to this location because it was closer for a few friend. I called yesterday and spoke with a young lady, and asked if they had the $4.99 mimosa flight specials. She said today there are no specials, I told her it was for tomorrow, she put me on a quick hold and came back and said yes. So we arrived and sat in the bar room which was completely empty. Put in our order for 4 mimosa flights my friend asked the waiter “you have the minosas special right” amd he said yes. They took about 20 minutes, which we would understand if it was busy.. but we were the only ones there. The flights themselves were very good and tasted better than the other locations. As the waiter was putting them down we began to tell a friend how they were only $5 and we repeated this several times, without being corrected. We had a group of 5 and only received 1 tray of chips and salsa. A little later we had to request another chips and salsa. I had the Diabla tacos and they forgot to add the Guacamole and the meat was a little cold, but was still warm enough to eat and it was actually good. My other friends got the mole skillachiles and they enjoyed them. One of us ordered the Michelada flight and i actually had the cucumber michelada from the flight and I enjoyed it. We ordered another 3 flights and were enjoying our time there. We asked for our bill and were charged the full price for the mimosa flights. We asked the waiter why we were being charged full price and he said they had removed rhat special over a year ago.. we know for a fact know the DT Ontario location removed it in January 2025 so we started going to the West Covona location because they continued to honor it and have continued to honor it, and yes we are aware kf the different owners having different specials at their locations.. I let the waiter know this information and also mentioned I had called yesterday. He said he was going to talk to the manager. A few minutes later I see him coming from the little hallway to the restrooms and main restaurant and is stopped and talking to someone who was on the hallway. He came back and said no the manager said its full price. I asked him if that was the manager he was talking to now and he said yes. I asked him to have the manager come because i felt it should be honored. A few minutes later she came out. I explained to her the situation and she told me that West Covina doesnt do the specials, I said yes they do. We frequent there and know for a fact. She said the manager of both locations was actually there and she was going to go ask them. Unfortunately I did not have the name of the young lady I had spoke to yesterday so she didnt believe that I called even after I showed her my call log. She came back and said the manager told her that they did not I didnt want to start a back and forth with her and we didnt mind paying the full price so she was just there not knowing what to say and I would have thought she would offer some sort of solution or discount for the confusion. My friend then mentioned she had asked the waiter so she said let me go ask him if that was true he said they were in special. She came back and said that he said yes there was a special but that we did not say the price of the special so it doesnt apply my friend asked for her to bring the waiter who was at the table next to us which we were letting him complete his task there and she just walked away and never came back. So we do understand that now moving forward we need to confirm prices at the table and not assume specials are what we usually know them to be, even after being confirmed by telephone the day before by an employee. We paid our bill and left. My issue is not the special is gone, but the fact that people answering the phones should be trained on what the specials are and be able to give a accurate information, my other issue is that once the manager knew of the issues, she should have came to address it and not let the waiter fend for himself. And she never offered us any solution. Poor management..

Such a horrible experience today (2/22) at this location. It’s national margarita day, so me and my partner decided to choose El Pescador of all places to eat at because we wanted a different atmosphere than our typical spots. Unfortunately it was a mistake to come here as the service completely ruined our time and schedule for the day.
To start, we arrived at 3pm and it was decently busy inside, no wait and we got to choose our table. It takes about 15-20 minutes before a waiter comes and asks what we’d like to drink, but the wait allowed us to figure out everything we’d like to order already so we did all at once. We didn’t mind the wait as I said it was decently busy, and we understood that. There was however, a LOT of staff in the restaurant so it did not seem like we should’ve been waiting as long as we did.
Our meals and drinks arrived pretty quickly but the margaritas were very watered down and that was disappointing — we are paying $14 for a margarita and you’d expect it to taste at least a bit like alcohol. Our waiter brought us utensils AFTER we had already been sitting with our meals but thankfully he was quick to notice that we needed some. The downfall begins after this.
Not once after our utensils were brought to the table were we checked on. Not a, “would you like another drink?”, not a, “how’s the food?” (Which is the most commonly asked question at ANY restaurant), and I must say that was very disappointing. Nonetheless we finished our meals and drinks, and were just chatting until our waiter walked by or came to *finally* ask if we needed anything (like the check perhaps). NONE of that happened though and we literally waited between 35-40 minutes before we got extremely annoyed of waiting and went to the hostess table to ask if we can pay our bill already. The hostess at the desk went to get a manager (male) and he just stood there, printed our check after we explained we waited 40 minutes with no service and said “sorry for the wait” after charging us.
This felt highly unprofessional and for someone who has been to a variety of restaurants and never had this problem, it felt like a slap in the face. There was zero accountability or attempt at accommodating. Usually a restaurant will offer a kind discount on a tab or knock off a margarita or anything, but this place did not do any of that. They kinda just told us to pay and leave, despite wasting 40 minutes of our time. We never saw our waiter as well. Of all the Pescador locations I’ve been to, this is easily the worst due to that kind of service. Especially from the manager once we asked to pay. I don’t think I’ll ever be returning to this location and the manager should learn a thing or two about customer service/guest relations. As someone who owns a business that involves customer service, this entire scenario is embarrassing.

The food here is absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is amazing but was crazy. Is the security guards or door people are the most polite/courteous human beings ever the waiters and waitress not so much and that has been my experience on a couple of occasions

I just want to share my experience at this restaurant.
FOOD IS DELICIOUS, JUST PERFECT !
But that is not my ✨️ experience . One cup of delicious sangria make me forget to take my purse with me . I went back till today, when I found out I didn’t have my purse at home. Hostess help me look for it. And I’m not sure who bring it to management and put it on safe place, So THANK YOU to the honest personnel you guys have. I had important documents on my purse that now this days, I have to carry with me. And I was scared to lose them.
