Once again, Chef Aarón Sanchez hits the spot with this local gem. Visiting from NYC where he had phenomenal restaurants that left you always wanting to come back. Tiffanie took great care of us, introducing us to the ultimate cauliflower tacos. Great happy hour deals. Great vegetarian options. Great drinks and even coffee served in mugs made in México. Salud, dinero y amor. Thanks Tiffanie and team!

Perfect Anniversary Dinner at Johnny Sánchez!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Johnny Sánchez, and it couldn’t have been better. We started with the chips and salsa — and those plantains served alongside were unbelievably good! The crispy Brussels sprouts were next-level, perfectly charred with a spicy-sweet kick that stole the show. For our mains, I had the Albondigas Taco Plate — smoky, tender chipotle meatballs bursting with flavor — while my wife loved the Crispy Shrimp Taco Plate, perfectly fried and bright with every bite. We ended the night with the Tres Leches Cake, which was soft, creamy, and the perfect finale.

The decor and ambiance were beautiful — colorful, modern, and full of life without being too loud. It felt festive and intimate all at once.

Huge shout-out to Russell, our server, who went above and beyond to make our anniversary dinner extra special. His timing, warmth, and care made the evening feel personal and memorable.

We left full, happy, and already excited to come back. Five stars all the way!

Overall solid Mexican food at reasonable prices. Street tacos are a great way to try a variety of tacos at a reasonable price. Meat was tender and flavorful. Margaritas were okay, a little sweet and batched but decent flavor. Only disappointment were the nachos. A small plate of chips with cold cheese sauce drizzled on top and some veg. Didn’t notice they were only on the happy hour menu until after we ordered. A solid choice for Mexican food.

Johnny Sánchez is hands down one of the best spots in New Orleans for authentic Mexican food with a fun local twist. The flavors are bold, the atmosphere is warm and lively, and everything feels thoughtfully crafted. The tacos are the best in NOLA, perfectly seasoned, fresh, and full of flavor. I also tried their brunch, and it was amazing! The churro waffles were a standout, crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and the syrup was so good I could’ve had a whole jar of it. The shrimp and grits brought that perfect New Orleans flair, and the steak tacos were juicy and delicious.

If you’re looking for a place that blends authentic Mexican cuisine with that signature New Orleans charm, Johnny Sánchez is a must-visit.

Johnny Sánchez has a great vibe that perfectly blends a French Quarter feel with Latino soul. We were drawn in by the “Endless Street Tacos” sign, and it turns out judging a book by its cover was the right move. At $11.11 per person, the value is incredible.

The taco selection includes al pastor, chicken, and barbacoa—and all three were excellent. The barbacoa was lean and savory, the chicken was tender with a nice hint of spice, but the al pastor was easily the highlight. The meat literally melted in our mouths, and the flavors just got better with every bite.

We sat at the bar and every staff member we met was friendly, but Alethea really made the experience. She was attentive, sweet, and made us feel like regulars on our very first visit. On her recommendation, we tried the chili con queso blanco with homemade plantain and tortilla chips—it was easily the best thing we ate all weekend. We’ll definitely be bringing the family back next time we’re in New Orleans.

Didn’t get a pic of the food but the pic won’t do the flavors justice

I recommend the All you can eat tacos if they still have it!

Within it, you can order pork, chicken, or beef tacos.
All you can eat beef tacos are the most savory/flavorful out of the three.
