A true hidden gem. We got the esquites, bean and cheese pupusa, carne asada taco, birria taco, and guac. I LOVE chunky guac. It was so fresh and amazing I didn’t want to share with my daughter. Everything was delicious. Go support this new local gem!

Best authentic tacos in the 301. Probably the state. Eating there almost makes you feel like you’re eating in chihuahua!

We absolutely loved our food. My husband ordered a carne asada burrito, and it reminded him of a place we used to go to in Oregon about 15 years ago — which says a lot, because we haven’t found good Mexican food in this area until now. He was genuinely floored.
I had the carne asada nachos, and they were just as amazing — loaded, fresh, and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and well-made.
The cashier was super helpful and friendly, and even showed me the nachos before I left to make sure everything looked good and we were satisfied. That extra touch meant a lot.
Great food, great service, and we’ll definitely be coming back.

First off, if you ever had the small Mexican spot that was tucked away on Old Washington Rd in Waldorf, you will love this place. This place is so good and they serve real Mexican food. I’ve been searching high and low for authentic Mexican food in the area and there are many restaurants that advertise Mexican food but the style of food is not necessarily authentic. I ordered a torta, tacos, tamales, an elote, quesadilla, and even fresas con crema. Everything I ordered was a 10 out of 10. I found my new go to spot!

Rio Carry Out in Waldorf is a hidden gem! I tried their tacos, quesadillas, and tamales all were delicious, but the pork tamales stole the show. I’m originally from Texas and even make my own, and these are the only ones I’ve found here that compare to mine. They had the perfect ratio of masa to meat plenty of flavorful filling without being too doughy. The shrimp quesadilla (no beans, just cheese and lettuce) was amazing too. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They have a few tables if you want to eat there, but it’s mainly a carryout spot — definitely worth it! ✨

I’m a sucker for authentic tacos. That’s my baseline when I’m trying an Mexican restaurant, and these did not disappoint. I ordered 4 tacos, waited a out 10 minutes and enjoyed them in the car. The only thing that was missing, was some lime wedges along with my order. Minor quip.

Will go there again to try some of their other dishes.

The staff were very kind and friendly, the service was quite fast, and the food was absolutely delicious!
We got a lengua burrito and carne asada tacos. Portions were great, not too big, not too small.
Overall, will definitely be coming back whenever I am in Waldorf and will absolutely be recommending it to friends.

Favorite Mexican restaurant for the wife and I in southern Maryland. Whenever we travel up to the Waldorf area we always want to stop here. The carne asada fries are AMAZING and the salsa verde is spicy and on point. Wife is from New Mexico and I am from California so our Meican tastes have high standards. Definitely recommend!

Some of the best authentic Mexican food I’ve tasted! The homemade tamales remind me of when my aunts use to make them around the holidays! I’ll be a regular from now on. This spot definitely brings back of memories from home!
