My family and I went to Perkins last night as it was Friday and no one felt like cooking. Reading terrible reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m glad to say they were proven wrong. As someone who grew up with Perkins in Wisconsin and has been eating at them for a good 30 years or more, I’m happy to report it was just fine.

The staff was super polite, our waitress was very helpful, and despite having low staff (a problem most public facing jobs are experiencing-especially restaurants ) they did a good job. The food tasted like it always does-it’s midrange food, always has been, so I’m not sure what folks expectations are?

Our order consisted of: Belgian waffle with bacon and eggs, hot chocolate, Iced Coffee, Eggs Benedict, Everything Omelet with Hash browns and fruit, kids Cheeseburger meal and Blueberry Muffins. All of it hit the spot and again given reviews I kept wondering if something would be off, but it just wasn’t. Maybe those folks were in on an off day? Maybe they’ve gotten different staff or updated something? Idk, as all was fine.

I want to address other concerns I read. Dirty carpet: considering it was snowing out I would expect a little salt , etc. to track in. I’m sure management can easily address that if you tell them. There were minor bits of straw wrappers, but none of that was concerning. Dishes were probably cleared a little slower, but that likely had to do due to lower staffing (understandable). Cost: Everything has gone up with inflation. That being said, portions were as they always have been (large).

TL;DR: Don’t be afraid to go, it’s just fine. It’s a sit down restaurant, so don’t expect to be served in a hurry.

This place really fell of.

The good: Nothing
The bad: Everything

The food was bland or slightly burnt. My wife ordered non-crispy bacon, but it was served to her crispy. The eggs looked and tasted like they were powder mix, the table didn’t have syrup or butter for our pancakes and French toast, and the iced coffee was the worst abomination of them all, which was some bizzare coffee syrup mix that obviously didn’t mix at all as you can see by the pic. We sent the coffee back after a few sips and were still charged for them.

The food used to be good. Never again will we return to eat this slop.

Having frequented numerous Perkins locations across several states, I’ve observed a concerning trend: a decline in value and quality. My recent visit, prompted by an overcrowded IHOP, led me to reconsider Perkins as a reliable breakfast option.
While Perkins has its standout items, the pricing has become exorbitant. A single Belgian waffle, without any accompanying sides, cost me approximately $15 after tax. My companion’s “healthier” Cali eggs Benedict, despite substituting potatoes with greens, neared $20. The roasted tomatoes were far from fresh, the greens were soggy, and the eggs were overcooked. Such prices demand a higher standard of culinary execution, which was clearly lacking.
Perkins, once a beacon of American Southern comfort food, is now struggling to stay afloat by inflating prices, which ultimately hurts both customers and waitstaff. I hope corporate takes note: Perkins needs to rediscover its roots as an affordable, cozy place where people can enjoy good food and comforting treats.

I really really love their banana crème pie!! My favorite, then the apple pie, and lastly the cheesecake. Ad online shows cheesecake with strawberries. The cheesecake actually comes with no toppings. Tried the brownies and apple cinnamon mammoth muffin. Delicious!

Ordered for pick up but haven’t dined in yet. Looking forward to it. I’m sure other things on the menu taste just as good.

Cam into Perkins today and I am happy I did. We have an AWESOME waitress, ans the food is phenomenal. I really don’t know why I may have expected less! My last few times coming here and ordering here have been nothing but great experiences. Last time my order got messed up here, and the manager at that time came and fixed it, and even attempted to compensate me for it. I think at the time I was thrown for a loop that he apologized for the order being messed up. I didn’t want the compensation just the correct order. I really appreciate even just the apology! But today everything has been wonderful and I’m waiting for my waitress to come by just to put her name here….. LEAH! If you get her prepare to be blessed with positivity, and a great smile! Though we said it in person, Thank you Leah!!!! You’re awesome!

DANEISHA was SO helpful in securing me my seasonal favorite: PUMPKIN DONUT MUFFINS! I got two bakery boxes full. She assembled them so carefully too! What a wonderful way to walk into Perkins! She is a total doll and the bakery was a hit at my meeting!

I’m extremely disappointed. I’ve been wanting to try this place since I moved here. I finally gave it a shot and I won’t be coming back. The service was bad, the server was rude, and the rest of the employees seems to not want to be there. When I got my food it was not even recognizable as what it was supposed to be. I got cheddar bacon flips which were supposed to be two sandwich like breakfast things and what I ended up with was a burnt pile of mush. It didn’t look at all like it was supposed to. It was completely burnt to where I had to pick the burnt stuff off. The server served it to me without a second thought, which tells me that this is the norm here. This genuinely made my day worse, so I hope you’re reading this. You find somewhere better to spend your money.

We came in on veteran day to have a good breakfast at perkins off east Washington in madison wi. We were seated and given our drinks. Then we sat there with no one helping us for awhile ,while the waitress took orders for 5 or 6 customers that showed up after us. The waitress was helping table on both sides of us and cleaning a table right next to us without saying a word to us. She also looked right at me and my wife and still didn’t help us. We really like the atmosphere and food here but not sure we will come back and will let our friends and family know about the service at this Perkins.

Treat veterans awful! Please read!! We came today, 11/11/2025 veterans day to our favorite perkins in the east side of madison. My husband, whom is a veteran, was with me. We came in, greeted nicely, and was seated. As we sat there we watched atleast 7 or more tables come in all around us that were seated. We watched the waitress talk to every table around us, clean the table next to us and made eye contact with us a few times. Only to be ignored. We waited patiently to just get passed over time and time again. I had even held my big menu up to give a hint we still have never been helped. Still nothing. Everyone food was coming out and it just felt so incredible awful to get looked over as we were right in the middle of everyone. We saw a manager even walk to tables to say hello and skip us all together. It really started to feel personnel. I will be telling everyone what a bad experience we had. Let alone on veterans day where vets should feel appreciated not ignored. sad and upsetting.
