Had a fantastic lunch here at noon. The whole spot is such a labor of love and testament to their family business. We tried two of their daily specials, their prime rib with chili and loaded baked potato, and a teriyaki salmon. We didn’t get their potato-mac salad but we should have! The salmon was melt in your mouth divine and the perfect shoyu-sweet blend. Super ‘ono au jus with the prime rib too. Also got to try their banana chocolate chip cake with cream cheese frosting, and a very tasty anko/red bean bar. The owner is so sweet and the staff are lovely and I’d be delighted to come back and try more specials and baked goodies! 🙂

I visited this place for the first time during lunch while on jury duty. I went to the cashier to order and pay for a steak plate. After waiting a little over 20 minutes, I heard “steak plate ready,” but it turned out to be someone else’s order. An older staff member asked what I had ordered, and I told her it was a steak plate and that I had already paid and was waiting. She then informed me that I was supposed to place my order in a different area, which I was never told when I paid. By the time I finally received my food, I had to rush to eat in order to get back to court. The food was good, even though I had to eat quickly, but the communication was lacking—especially for first-time customers.

Best service, ever, food is amazing. And it’s not a mom n pop, it’s a pop, he runs the show so smoothly by himself in the mornings.
Breakfast bento to go is the best deal on this island.
The salmon katsu lunch plate on Monday Tuesdays is spectacular. His baked chicken is amazing. Everything is delicious.

Service was fast and upbeat.

The food was plentiful for what you’re paying.

The fried rice was spicy and salty, great for a hearty meal, not so great if you’ve got a history of high cholesterol. There were no veggies in it. The chicken wasn’t seasoned much, fried with chicken broth sauce, still pretty good.

For $6 you get fried rice, a meat choice and an egg. I’m not a treasure hunter but I can’t find that in town anywhere.

Would come back for a quick eat!

Wanted a quick bite to eat on our first stop in Hawaii. Found this little eatery a couple blocks from the port. You know how they say look for the little hole in the wall of you want to eat as the locals do? Well this is it. Construction workers, business people, tourists and locals got in line to order. The food was fine. The desert cakes we had were very good. Give it a go!

Phenomenal food and super friendly! We stopped in as tourists and I have to say it was the best meal we had on our trip!

The test of a good steak is that it shouldn’t need anything added. And their steak passed with flying colors.

First time visiting, got the steak and chicken plate. Chicken was quite good, but the steak was chewy and fatty.

Had a lemon bar as well ..it was mech, hard crust and rubbery

& : ( ) Overall I thought the food was good. $ was very tasty and tender. Check out our reel to see how tender. The portion size was very generous. I had enough for breakfast the next day. The Teriyaki Chicken was good but sauce was more shoyu chicken than teriyaki. Needed to be thicker and sweeter to be teriyaki. The roast pork was very good. I liked that there was still chunks of pork. Some places serve roast pork that’s too much like mush. The mushroom gravy was also good and I loved that they ask you if you want gravy on the rice. Of course I do! The potato salad was good and had just the right hint of mustard. My only gripe was the rice was a bit overcooked.

& : ( ) Been here a couple times and the service is always friendly and fast. Not the most glamorous place but it’s got nice mom and pop vibes.

: Recommended. The food is good and the service is always warm and welcoming. Portions are large and affordable. Come early because they do sell out of popular items quick and only open till 2pm Mon-Fri.

Came for a special Yelp dinner where we had a pre-set menu of their specialty items! It was a great introduction to their menu, including customer favorites like a basil and cheese-topped salmon that was perfectly cooked and prime rib slices that had me stuffing my face way more than I should have.

I hear they do a fantastic breakfast too – but you’ll have to go early as they are a popular dining spot with the federal and state workers from th agencies nearby.
