First time here and it was wonderful! Young lady at the cash register was super patient with me and friendly! Every single staff member acknowledged me.. that’s hard to find these days! Esp with me being the only gay girl in Winder (who was getting her truck serviced at Akins Ford). LOL delicious food! Smoked chicken and pulled pork was so tender. And the buttered toast was huge! Thank you for the great experience for a first-timer!

Ok definitely worth a try for sure. I got the loaded bake potato with the sweet sauce and it was excellent. The Brunswick stew was the best stew I’d had that isn’t processed in a food processor. Im partial to finely ground Brunswick myself but there’s is good. The banana pudding is freaking amazing!

I would give an extra star to service if I could. We had the nicest host, she made us feel right at home. We used a fried mushroom starter to taste all the sauces, of which there are many. The ribs are super tender with that competition bite you want to see. The brisket(a special that day) was tender and smokey, I wish we had added that to our order but the slab we got to try was awesome. As a western NYer I judge wings by the way they are cooked. If they are crispy without having to ask you are in the right spot. These were done perfectly and the famous butter dry rub was fantastic. As for the sides I had the brunswick stew and the baked beans which were both cooked on the smoker and it comes through. Delicious, 10/10 I would go back!

After trying to park, with one of the only spots left next door the parking lot wasn’t that bad. Across the street from the courthouse. Looking at the building it could use a paint job. As you approach the scribble all over the windows made me question if we’re in the right place. When we walked in everyone was standing in a long line at the cash register. After a few minutes of questioning do we sit down or stand we finally found out we could sit anywhere we wanted. The table was sticky and wet we had to wipe it ourselves. The choices were very limited. Basically it’s pork chicken or ribs. After ordering it appeared in front of us within 2 minutes. It obviously was not cooked fresh I’m assuming they microwave the food. It tastes the ribs weren’t fresh, the pulled pork plate tasted very stale with Burnt pieces, the side dishes are not good. The potato salad tasted like they use the wrong type of potato and was very gross, the coleslaw tasted like it was mixed with water, the Brunswick stew tasted like it had no flavor, overall the only reason this got above two stars was because everyone was friendly. The entire place needs a thorough paint and clean inside and out. New menu and fresh food cooked when ordered.

While I have one gone to this business one time recently, I will definitely be going back. They amazing BBQ pulled pork and racks of ribs. They gave me several different types of sauces to try that were homemade / owner created that are great to try. The flavors can fit most anyone’s taste whether you like smoky, sweet, hot or vinegar based. While the place is small it has a large place in many people’s minds and hearts from who I talked with and the reason I went on word of mouth only. Try them out.

“You haven’t had BBQ if you haven’t been to Smokin PO Boys BBQ”..said my friend Patrick while sitting at Meander Brewing for a beer.

Two days later, I decided to drive the 40 miles and 1 hour it would take for me to reach this joint.

It was a charming place tucked away in the quaint town of Winder.

Place was full of people. But I was lucky to get a seat without any waiting.

My friendly server was one of those busy country girls who still manage to provide excellent service.
I ordered a combo of chicken and steak, along with some unsweetened tea. Both dishes were fantastic! I ended up finishing my entire meal, even though it was enough for two servings.

I really wish the restaurant were less than 15-minute drive from my place in Atlanta, as that’s all I can afford for my lunch breaks on a regular basis.

This place has been on my list to try for a while and finally got to try it however the service was not great. My kids did not receive coloring stuff but we saw other kids at the restaurant with it. Our waiter was barely at our table however others wandering by would just ask “do you need anything” and one of those I asked for a to go container but never got it. Asked the waiter for it when he finally came by and still took a long time to get it. Food was good, fresh but the service definitely took away from the experience being nice and welcoming.

I would much rather leave a good review than a bad one. I’ve heard and read a lot about this Barbecue restaurant. Let me first say something positive. The girls in the front were helpful and attentive. The sauces were good with about any flavor style you want. I spent 20.00 and ordered Togo Tue 2/2/26 @8:15 pm. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and 6 hot lemon pepper wings. The wings were very good. The sandwich not so much. First of all I ordered it on a bun and the top bun was very hard with lots of unnecessary thick breading unlike any hamburger bun I have ever seen. Very little pork more bread than anything for $9.99. I have had better 4.00-5.00 sandwiches with double the meat! Cook should have been fired for sending anything out like that! Felt like I wasted 20.00. I know what good Bbq is I have ate at just about any worthwhile Bbq joint in Georgia and have been here all my life. If the owner wants to make it right please reach out. At this point I will never go back.

Six members of my family gathered for lunch at this outstanding barbecue restaurant in Winder, Georgia! I had the mixed combo plate with delicious, pulled pork and barbecued beef ribs, fried okra, and slaw. It was incredible. The service was excellent, and the kitchy decor was quite entertaining. I highly recommend this restaurant when you’re in the mood for really really good barbecue!

I eat a lot of bbq as I travel for business. This is by far the best brisket I have ever had. Very tinder and great smoke flavor. Glad I was in the area to try it. Highly recommend this place!
