Ice cream is very good and they offer fun unique flavors. We got a tasting flight with espresso macaroons lemon biscotti, coconut mango swirl, pumpkin cheesecake, almond apple pie. All flavors were really good. I love they have unique options. They also carry, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and mint chip. Some nondairy options too.

Excellent coffee, clean ice cream!
I got a regular coffee, my husband got a flat white and our son got the best mint chocolate ice cream we’ve ever tasted (!)Once he got past the fact that it wasn’t green… 🙂
So refreshing, the real peppermint!

Me and my mum always come here after a hike. Always nice staff who explain flavors. The color changing spoons are so fun! So many interesting flavors that are reliability amazing. Best ice cream place I’ve been to! Super creamy and not too sweet. Highly recommend!

For those who knew my grandma, she never turned down ice cream. So while in town last week for her funeral, my friend suggested we visit Amy & Alex’s Homemade Ice Cream and Coffee. I’m not usually a huge ice cream person, but it felt like the perfect way to honor her.

The shop itself was bright, clean, and welcoming, with several people already enjoying their treats. We grabbed a high table by the front window, which made for some great people-watching while we indulged.

The menu immediately caught my eye. The range of flavors wasn’t just broad–it was creative, unique, and full of options you don’t see every day. That foodie spark kicked in, and I knew I had to go with a flight so I could taste a few. (Brilliant idea, by the way–four little cups of different flavors!)

Our picks were:

Grilled Lime Burnt Honey

Crunchy PB Jelly

Espresso Mascarpone Lemon Biscotti

Brown Butter Pecan & Praline

Each scoop came with a color-changing spoon (such a fun touch), and every flavor was creamy, consistent in texture, and absolutely delicious. My favorites were a tie between the Espresso Mascarpone (though I think it could stand strong without the lemon biscotti) and the Brown Butter Pecan & Praline. The Grilled Lime Burnt Honey was bright and unique, and the Crunchy PB Jelly was tasty but leaned a bit sweet for me.

Overall, this was some of the best ice cream I’ve had–flavorful, high-quality, and true to its name. Add in the kind, helpful staff and the clean, cozy atmosphere, and it made for a really special stop.

I left not just with a happy palate, but also with a new tradition: every year on August 22, I’ll seek out a new ice cream spot in honor of my grandma. Amy & Alex’s was the perfect place to start.

Wow! We stopped by here after a hike along the C&O Canal, and we are so glad we did. I had a Dark Chocolate Gingerbread milkshake and my son had a Spiced Apple Dumpling milkshake. Truly some of the best ice cream I’ve had in a long time. The milkshakes were thick, a really nice ice cream to milk ratio. We live over an hour away but I’m already wanting to visit again!

This is an ice cream shop that I will NEVER visit again. I went there with my family, and when we walked in I cheerily greeted the young lady at the counter. I know she heard me, but she stared at me without any response. We looked at the menu and the ice cream flavors on offer. I asked if I could try one of the flavors but was told that they do not offer samples. (Well, it’s their business prerogative, but it was the first time in my lifetime that has happened – AND it would have been helpful of we had been given a brief explanation as to why they do not provide samples.) Personally, I have no intention of spending close to $5.00 for one scoop of ice cream to find that it does not agree with my palette. Another person came out from behind the back while we were there and – again – no greeting. I didn’t want to deprive my children of a sweet treat. They are innocent and would not have recognized or understood the dynamics of what was actually occurring. So they had ice cream. However, my husband and I opted out of patronizing a business that picks and chooses whom they will treat with basic respect based on outward appearances. The ice cream might be great – but even great ice cream can be tainted by a poor attitude and bad manners.

Had a great first time experience! I ordered the flight so we could try a few different flavors. Everything was so delicious, fresh, and creamy! The staff was super friendly and explained that a higher fat cream is used for the ice cream, and that’s what makes it so cranky and decadent. I’ve already returned to try other flavors, and can’t wait to keep coming back!

I went with my sister and fiance the first time this weekend. We absolutely loved it! I got the bumbleberry pie. I was surprised by how large the one scoop size was and it’s decently priced! All the employees were very sweet and helpful. The atmosphere was calm despite how busy it was. Needless to say, all three of us love this place!

So they don’t offer samples. But the flavors were out of this world. We had a large group so we got two flights and were able to sample a ton of flavors. Consensus was that the olive oil sea salt was the favorite!
