Social Profile:

We are a family and employee owned and operated coffee company.
Our flagship store is located in Pittsburgh’s historic Strip District. We roast all of our coffee in-house daily, blend our own loose-leaf tea–and serve simple, yet elegant café food, craft cocktails, local beer and natural wines. We host live music, support local artists and sell a variety of local goods, specialty foods, and coffee brewing gear.
We also supply local cafes, restaurants and bakeries with coffee and tea.
Our team and customers are some of the nicest, hardest-working people around. We love our jobs, our city, and believe that cafés should play a role in creating, enriching, and sustaining happy communities.
Chill, industrial-style cafe with outdoor seats serving light fare, baked goods, coffee, and cocktails.

This place is amazing! I couldn’t decide what to order, so I asked the barista to surprise me with an iced caffeinated drink, and it turned out delicious. The staff was super friendly and really knew what they were doing.
I’m so glad I found this spot, it’s definitely going to be my new go to. They also have a great selection of bakery items and chocolates. Highly recommend!

This is the place to be if you want a chill place to enjoy a latte. They make the best mocha I have ever had (and I have frequented many many coffee shops across the country). The staff are welcoming and friendly. This is a “must visit” if you’re in the area.

Big cozy coffee spot with many seats. It’s been my favorite place to work and grab a coffee lately. The black coffee is a bit overpriced but which local coffee shop isn’t these days. To their credit, refills are free. They have many pastries and sweets options. I also think they make sandwiches. Great service and staff

What a nice place and the baristas were wonderful! They have some gluten free treats. My husband said it was the best affogato he’s ever had!

Cute classic shop to stop in the Strip District. Try the rosemary latte. Quiet, modern industrial vibe, perfect for working, studying, or catching up with a friend.

One of my favorite places on the Strip! The atmosphere is so nice here, with lots of indoor and outdoor seating and lovely decor!
I especially love their seasonal drinks, especially their brown sugar cinnamon cold brew, the cold foam is so perfect and airy, one of the best I’ve had! All their baked goods are great too, but the Korean Pork hand pie is top tier, also their breakfast sandwiches on English muffins are popular for a real good reason.
Definitely a great place to hang out and chat or get some work done, or enjoy a little sunshine with a great drink and snack!

I want to send out a huge thank you to Nick and De Fer Coffee and Tea. I was gifted the opportunity to attend a hands on training for latte art. Nick opened up the business for us after hours and spent a lot of time teaching me about how to pour latte art. He walked me through the process of steaming the milk to the right consistently and using the proper technique to make the great designs. He was very welcoming and generous for doing this on his own time. He also allowed us to taste some of his amazing espresso which I highly recommend. It had great flavor and made an excellent latte. I highly recommend getting a cup of coffee or buying some beans while you are in the Strip. Thank you Nick and De Fer Coffee for making my experience awesome!!

De Fer Coffee & Tea is one of my go-to stops in Pittsburgh for consistently excellent specialty coffee. They roast their beans in-house and it shows—espresso drinks are smooth and well-balanced, and their drip/cold options are reliably strong and flavorful. The flagship Strip District space has that warm, industrial-chic feel (brick + lots of light) that makes it easy to hang out, catch up with a friend, or get some work done.
I also appreciate that it’s a local, family/employee-owned operation, and the menu goes beyond just coffee—there are simple café foods, plus options like craft cocktails/beer/wine at the Strip location, which makes it a great all-day spot.
If you’re visiting the Strip District, it’s an easy recommendation. (Winter hours at the Strip are typically 7am–5pm weekdays and 8am–5pm weekends.)

Went to De Fer on Saturday at 2 PM since it’s one of the few coffee shops open until 9 PM. Located in the heart of the Strip District, right in front of the new Terminal, it has a unique and spacious layout. Parking can be tricky depending on how busy it is.
Their lattes were perfectly sweet, and the everything bagel was a great snack! The vibe was ideal for both working (good internet) and catching up with a friend. I also loved browsing their local goods—coffee, wine, cheese, meats, and beautiful artwork!
