Ordered a Chili Cheese Dog. No cheese, but I was glad because I wouldn’t have wanted it to hide this monstrosity of a “meal”.
The buns were extremely soggy, the dog was wrinkly and a strange yellowish color.. The “chili” or should I say, MYSTERY meat was the most burnt, bottom of the pan, nastiest texture I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t appear to be beans, or meat? Looks a lot like poo if you ask me. It was obviously old, which makes me cringe.
What a complete sloppy mess! I get chili dogs typically are, but this wasn’t even edible.. I just love how it started seeping out of the container, and they didn’t give me a bag or napkins so that was awesome.
Oh and the flat awful drink (despite ordering no ice), it was so nice of them to leave it on the outside of the cup for me! Sticky hands are fun.
Would you be surprised if I told you the food was cold? I only live less than a block away. But it doesn’t matter because no matter how hungry I was, you couldn’t PAY ME to eat whatever the heck THAT was. I was so upset, I just tossed it. Didn’t even bother to make a complaint or ask for my money back.
This isn’t the first time Lenny’s at 59th and Peoria has done this. I once ordered a simple burger, and I should’ve taken photos because it was completely undercooked. I’m not over exaggerating. I never had a patty so pink, it was bleeding. I was actually pretty sick because I ate more than half of it before noticing. I wrote it off as a simple mistake, but anytime I eat here I get food like this.
Just don’t go here. I don’t care how hungry you are, or how cheap their food is. It isn’t worth getting sick over. Anywhere else is safer to eat than this, I assure you.

Ordered a green chile burger combo, a garlic mushroom burger and the sampler platter. We took it to go and drove 15 minutes home. The food was still hot, though the fries steamed a bit in the bag, they still had crisp edges and the taste was that they were fresh made. The kitchen is visible from the lobby, and while it looked like tight quarters, it looked like it was organized and clean for a working kitchen. The burgers were delicious, though I personally will ask for no lettuce if they’re to go, since the heat from the patty does wilt the lettuce and the steam made the bun soggy. Which is expected from sitting in a bag 15 minutes on my drive home. The sampler platter is a must try.
From previous experiences dining in:
The fries always were right out of rhe fryer hot. The burger patties are always juicy and fresh, the lettuce crisp, and tomatoes are flavorful. My usual is the double cheeseburger, but with just onions, pickles, ketchup, and mustard, and they’ve never messed it up. The only thing that I could say is that the fried fish is a bit overcooked, but this is a burger joint! Get a chocolate malt, or a banana shake, a burger how you like it and enjoy the ambiance.
Speaking of ambiance, they go for a 50s dinner feel and hit it just right! The jukebox, the chrome EVERYWHERE, all the Americana you could want. I love it! This location has a surfboard converted into a table, nice touch!
Don’t miss this Valley classic at all their locations
