The Farmhouse Cafe is one of those wonderful hidden gems that makes dining out a true pleasure. The atmosphere is relaxed and there is never a rush.
The food is excellent, however sadly they do not serve breakfast.
We normally split a meal and they happily accommodate us by bringing the extra plate with the meal already divided.
The servers take extra time to make you feel welcome and love to chat, which we enjoy emensley. There was a hostess this trip that we had a wonderful conversation with about art and painting (one of our favorite pastimes) and she helped with information about where we could pick up oil painting supplies.
Always enjoyable.
Overall a wonderful experience.

We went for lunch on a Saturday based on Google reviews. Wait time 30 minutes. People friendly both staff and customers. I ordered a Club sandwich. For the price point of more than $15 it was a disappointment. Plain cold cuts, only a slice each of ham, turkey and cheese, bacon 2 pieces. For that price point and the implied name of Farmhouse i was expecting turkey and ham from a breast or actual turkey and ham. Fries undercooked.

Overall good experience, checked in around 2pm less than a 10 minute wait. Ordered the Saturday special – chicken Parmesan. Good flavor and size for a lunch special. Also ordered a small chicken fried steak and fried green tomatoes. The complimentary bread and cornbread were delicious. Butter was good and nicely whipped.

The food was excellent! Best food I have had in a long time. I live in East Tx but definitely would make a trip out there just to eat. I have yet to try their desserts as I was so full! Atmosphere was great people were great and very attentive. The food tasted like grandmas cooking. Recommend 100%!

Service was great mostly because our waitress was fantastic! The cornbread and rolls that they bring were phenomenal, although I wasn’t impressed with the margarine served with it. Real butter would have been nice.
My meal was rather disappointing: the chicken and dressing tasted quite bland (definitely need some poultry seasoning), and the green beans seemed as if they came right out of a can with no home cooked flavor at all. However, I loved the carrot salad—very fresh and flavorful.
My husband liked his pork roast with fried okra and fruit, so perhaps I will try that if we travel to Huntsville again.
We were too full to try out any of the beautiful pies. Maybe next time….

Visting our Granddaughter at Sam Houston State and took a short walk for lunch to thw the Farmhouse Cafe.Typical small town Texas vibe happening here lots of boots and cowboy hats.
Our Lunch started out with complimentary rolls and broccoli Cornbread served with preserve and butter now that’s country and I like it I had the Monte Cristo the wife went with Tortilla soup served fresh and hot. Everything was great a hint of chicken fried on the batter got better with every bite, rarely will the wife compliment her soup as it has to be just to her taste so I was a little caught off guard when she exclaimed That was good, made just right! I was shocked! We finished it off with the coconut cream pie a perfect ending to an enjoyable experience with our Grandkids that we only see every so often. A good day, a great meal, and time well spent for all.

We had a lunch stop here while traveling on New Year’s Day. We were so happy to find it open. The service was super excellent. The servers were polite, helpful and upbeat.
There was a ull menu with tempting sides. The food was delicious. The bakes sweet potato was huge, topped with toasted marshmallows.

Love this place. Their broccoli cornbread or whatever it is, is just amazing. Love their burgers and chicken fried chicken. The sides and desserts are also great. Love going there when I visit Sam Houston University.
