Party of 6 went for brunch. I love what this place is doing, the decor is divine and the atmosphere is very french. The service was excellent and the very lovely (and busy) french lady couldn’t have been nicer. I feel like she needed some extra help as the place started to get busy but she did her best, thank you. Hopefully as this new place gets established they can put more staff on to assist. The food was well priced and everyone really enjoyed their meals including one very picky little eater. The lunch menu looks good but we arrived too early for that. Pastries in the front cabinet were authentic and fresh. I hope this place does well. I would recommend to others.

Beautiful dinner for Valentine’s Day, the French onion soup and steak were 10/10. Staff are lovely and very accommodating. Will definitely be back.

I’m trying to be kind and constructive. This is a new French cafe at The Junction. They have spent big on decor and a fit out, but from today’s food, lack of service and dull atmosphere (I was the only diner), they have to lift their game quickly or they won’t last the distance. I hope they can make the changes needed for survival in a tough game.

I ordered the Le Bol de Grand-Mere, and it was incredible. Not only was it delicious and clearly made with high-quality ingredients, but the portion size was very generous.

Had breakfast this morning. Ordered a large omelette and was delivered this (see photo). Basically a small fried egg with relish. Very poor service and food.

I visited on Saturday 17/1 with friends & the dapperly-dressed waiter (Quincy) was really helpful explaining the unusual menu items. We all enjoyed pistacchio coffee & breakfast – food was delicious & portions very generous. The waiter impressively took all the order in his head & delivered it impeccably – certainly his calm, helpful, non-intrusive manner in keeping with a higher-end restaurant tradition.

When I returned th following week Friday 23/1 with my Francophile sister & partner there was a different waiter in much more casual attire, he was friendly but my partner felt pressured into ordering an unlisted ‘special’ that was disappointing & not really what he wanted at all. The waiter (didn’t catch his name) took down the menu on post-it notes but this didn’t seem to result in organised service . The traditional French breakfast bowl was amazing, but the rest of the coffee order was delayed & we asked after the coffee when he returned for the breakfast plates, then had to remind him of the rest of the order (twice). The whole encounter was protracted over an hour. I would have left without the drinks, but I’d talked up the pistacchio coffee to my sister visiting from out-of-town & she was keen to wait & didn’t think a takaway cup would do justice to the pistacchio cream. The order was accurate when it eventually arrived, but the delay between my coffee arriving, then the espresso for my partner was inexplicable – it would have been much more enjoyable if the hot drinks could arrive together.

I haven’t decided yet if I’ll return for another try – the food is amazing, esepcially the ratatouille but the service seems highly variable & really affects the quality of the dining experience.
