Reluctantly I will do a wing review as I do every restaurant I go to just in case there’s an amazing wing I’m missing out on. Overall rating is 5/10 it’s alright the wing itself is cooked well but it’s just plain. However the hells chicken is comparable to a boneless wing just much bigger, I’d give that a 6.5/10 the hot level isn’t much higher than a franks red hot though it’s a good flavour the downfall is the chicken though it was still great just many better options.
Again I try to be as unbiased towards restaurants like this when reviewing them as obviously wings are probably the last thing on their mind as a Japanese restaurant. Because of that I truly believe this is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Calgary not only due to the novelty of the bullet train but also because of the food disregarding the wings.
Food was exactly as expected, priced fairly and we were all entertained by the train.
Type in your order (max 4 at a time, train capacity limit). But you can keep ordering and keep the trains coming.
I regret not going more often. Experience might be different if busy or weekends and dinner time.
Happy experience from my party 2 times now
Bullet train delivery was super cool and fast. Order from an iPad and comes to your table very quickly. Selection was good to keep those that don’t like sushi and vegans happy which we had both at our table.
Negatives:
Overpriced and small portions. The value wasn’t there compared to my other favourite sushi joints.
Overall: The bullet train concept was neat as a novelty and worth checking out. If you haven’t been it’s worth a visit. But wouldn’t be my “go to” sushi place.
The staff are wonderful, and the place is clean. Good food, and a fun experience
Food takes a bit longer than expected and the waitress’s mannerisms was rushed not out of the place actually being busy (and even if it was you should still take proper care and time with the customer and provide a pleasant dining experience) but almost out of ego and wanting to appear like she wasn’t available or not to bother her with questions etc they seemed more sycophantic to white customers which unfortunately is so ingrained and conditioned into people and not based on merit just simple habitual patterns of society that it infiltrates every level of service.
