I was so excited to try the caneles because I love them! Got excited I got 2. To my surprise they were the worst caneles I’ve had. I tried to look up their menu to see if this was a specific type or something because it was hard and the texture was of gelatin, it wasn’t pleasant. But also the flavor taste was no where near a canele flavor. It was sweet but it had an off taste to it it wasn’t pleasant. I’m not upset because this shop has a lot of stuff and really delicious looking pastries

Used to be our go to spot for French palmier.
Bought two along with other pastries this morning with an excitement but left with a disappointment. It’s too doughy with lack of buttery flavor. The recommended chocolate custard sadly lacked in the amount of custard let alone chocolate flavor. What happened to this place?

I had high hopes for this place, but the almond croissant was inedible—soggy, and stale, and had a strange, cardboard-like aftertaste. For $5.75, I expected a fresh, flaky pastry with a rich almond flavor. Unfortunately, it didn’t come close. I barely managed two bites before throwing it out. The service was friendly, but that didn’t make up for the fact that I couldn’t even eat what I came for. Definitely not going back—what a waste.

The best croissants in the neighborhood, hands down. Truthfully, every baked good I ever get from here is the best. We love the croissants (plain, sweet, and savory), the Madelines, and the brioche bread. The brioche is my go-to when I’m baking a French toast casserole. Their desserts are also fantastic and frequently come in individual servings which is perfect for entertaining. They are a regular stop for me in the neighborhood. Staff are always kind and super helpful!
They also have a plethora of grocer goods imported from France. So what if you can’t get to Paris? Just come here and Le French Tart Deli may do the trick.

This narrow, tiny corner shop turns out some truly excellent sandwiches, tarts, and cakes (yes, croissants too—but we already know that since they advertise them heavily, and to be fair, they taste like a piece of heaven ).
My absolute favorite is the crème brûlée pie. One spoonful of that rich, creamy filling is enough to make you forget about any dietary restrictions for the rest of the day/week.

really good pastries and savory options! i got a croissant with tomato and cheese and it was sooo good. the store even has a great smell when you walk in. one of the staff when i went there this time was a little rude since i didn’t know how to pronounce the croissant i got. but usually they are very nice!

Something is going on with the guy behind the counter here. He acts like he’s offended by having to put a pastry in a bag and ring it up. I asked a simple question and received a condescending reply.
I will put up with a lot if the pastries are good but sadly, the care and attention to detail here has really declined. My croissant tasted stale, as though it was days old.

First off..these weirdos have a sign in front for number of years now stating “ best croissant in New York City, by Daily News “
That is absolute BS there is no way they won anything at anytime..and if they did “ daily news is definitely not the top judge of it.
Second I’ve finally had enough of the guy that always works there..that gives the biggest attitude of all time, acting like he is French or something, selling best product on earth..which is not the case.
And Third and the most disturbing thing,
I ordered some Madelines the other day and this clown used the same glove to take cash and give change to another costumer before me and then went on to grab Madeline’s with same damn glove.
I mean let’s talk about how disgusting that guy is..I really think he does weird things out in the back of that place.

We gotta talk about the guy behind the counter. Insanely rude, so much that every time I come in, I’m like, yeah, that’s why I never come back here. From condescending responses to simple things like “can you warm this up?” To questions about pastry items, to correction of pronunciation, to double ringing items with no apology, to commenting on the tip you leave. Truly bizarre. I have had maybe 6 interactions /comments/questions with this guy, and there are like… layup easy possible responses for someone in a service role to give. he is bizarre, condescending, and rude— at every single interaction. Is he an owner? Manager? He just runs unchecked at lunch? The guy needs a vacation and a major attitude adjustment, or another career entirely .
