Umi’s is always hoppin. They have a fun, college-town vibe with a lot of seating. If you come on a Friday or Saturday- be prepared for a 1-2 hour wait. We ordered crab puffs for an appetizer, they were really good. We all ordered the chicken and ny strip hibachi…super tasty!! Not sure what was going on with our server, but we did feel a bit neglected. Ok, A LOT neglected….but the food made up for it! We’ve had the sushi before and it’s probably the best I’ve had in Manhattan. Would definitely recommend it, the food is really good.

I had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — every bite was flavorful. The chef did an amazing job, and you can really taste the quality in the dishes.
Our waitress was just as impressive. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome the entire time. The service and the food together made this visit stand out.
I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and excellent service!

Sat at the bar this time and ordered to go. Had a few drinks. I had the Long Island iced tea. Was very evenly dispersed and flavorful.

One of the best restaurants in Manhattan! It is our #1 go to restaurants if my husband and I want to go out for dinner. We have tried few different rolls, sashimi and donburi, and all of them were great with very reasonable price. Highly recommend!!

First time going here and it was great . Everything we had was good food was served fast a wide selection too. My youngest daughter and wife and I ordered several things. Their lemonade was even good. I had the shrimp and scallops hibachi was good it came with a lite but tasty soup and a small salad. They had sushi rolls. I recommend this place and hope to go back again and ad to this review.

This is the 3rd time since moving to the area that I’ve visited UMI. Tonight was date night for my fiancé & I. The food is outstanding & large portions. He had the Japanese Country Pork & we shared a boat for 2. We ended up taking 3 to go boxes! HAHAHHA! The appetizer crab stick is my absolute favorite. I’ve actually ordered just that for pickup a few times on my way through Manhattan because I love it so much. We love the volcano roll, bagel roll, eel, & smelt roe.

Food was awesome as it usually is. We had hibachi steak, lobster, chicken & shrimp as well as 2 different types of sushi. Everything was prepared flawlessly.
Service was ok. They were extremely busy, but I didn’t feel as though any extra service was provided. The hibachi chef went through normal food preparations, but the hibachi chef across from us really put on a show for his customers. My son was a little disappointed. We come for a show…put on the show even if it’s been a long day. I’m paying good money for the food preparation part of this experience.
Atmosphere was good. Place was packed. Lots of people and lots of talking and cheering.
