The manager, Alice, recognized my dad and called him by name. She visited our table to express genuine interest in the newcomer and engaged in a brief conversation.
The drinks were ordered arrived promptly. My frequent experience at many diners is having to request refills on my coffee. Today the team was very mindful and prompt at offering refills. Another wonderful surprise was the offer of creamer for the coffee and jellies for the biscuit. All too often elsewhere I need to ask and seldom get a full stack of options. Another positive sign.
The food order was taken and promptly delivered hot. I buttered the second half of my biscuit and it was still warm enough to melt the butter .
My dish included sausage links which were well prepared and tasty. The hash browns were golden brown, lightly crunchy, and delicious. The eggs were scrambled and perfectly prepared.
My dad offered a piece of bacon from his plate. I’m a bit of a bacon snob. I like it thick and rarely see that at most diners. This bacon was thick and well cooked…firm, and thankfully not overdone.
Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food.
I’m sure dad and I will return when I come back to town for a visit.
Overall, a wonderful place to enjoy a satisfying meal. Highly recommend!
I appreciated that so much.
We were quickly sat and had drinks almost immediately. They were packed but we were able to order and get our food very quickly.
The food was AMAZING! I can not wait to visit again. Best service ever.
What this review is about …. is breakfast!!!
My wife and I arrived about 12:30pm and decided to have breakfast. I like to joke and enjoy service a little on the sassy side. I was not disappointed. Server was very pleasant and very timely. I asked for “soft” scrambled eggs. I am very specific in my food orders because I like my food a very specific way. (Just ask my wife …. and since I’m paying a premium price… I should get it the way I ordered….) I asked the Server why my wife got more hash browns than I (lol) She immediately … in her best scolding adult voice said “she did not, I’ll return and see if you finish all of yours…” (lol…. I am 74 years old…)
The eggs were NOT SOFT…. and the hash browns were barely brown (the brown in “hash brown” was left in the kitchen). I soon, let the Server know who immediately offered to order a new plate. At the time, I wasn’t complaining as much as I was advising (educating)… I advised that I would make due. As I got into the hash browns though, they were barely warm on the outside (ergo the lack of “brown”) and had quite a bit of moisture (water) in the middle and was cold. I decided I needed a new order of “hash browns”… to which the Server was very happy to accomodate. The biscuit and gravy had little warmth…. just sayin’ ….
I was very happy with the server (20%+ gratuity) although there might be a concern whether she was happy with me… but I wasn’t happy with the service from the kitchen. I will return for my reheated soup, but definitely not for breakfast. The price is a little high compared to other restaurants for breakfast.
